Operating Principle

The tuning fork is piezoelectrically energisedand vibrates at its mechanical resonancefrequency of approx. 1200 Hz. The piezoel-ectric elements are fastened mechanicallyand are therfore not subject to temperatureshock limitations. When the tuning fork isimmersed in the product, the frequencychanges. This change is detected by theintegrated oscillator and converted into aswitching command.

The models LS 5100 and LS 5150 are short versions without extension, whereas LS 5200 and LS 5250 can be ordered withextension tubes.

The level switches LS 5150 and LS 5250have a polished surface especially suitablefor applications in hygienic industries.

recommended installation position for adhesive products:

Extreme vibrations and shocks cancause the extension tube to vibrate. Therefore provide a fastening or straining directly above the tuning fork to fasten the extension tube.

Make sure that thevibrating element is notsubjected to lateral for-ces. Mount the instru-ment at a location inthe vessel where nointerfering effects canoccur. The surface of thetuning fork should beparallel to the productmovement.

Turn the cable entries ofhorizontally mountedinstruments downwards toavoid moisture ingress. For this purpose the plastichousing can be rotated byapprox. 330°.For vertically installedinstruments, loop the cableconnected to the instru-ment housing downwardsso that rain and conden-sation water can drain off.

Thread starting point is defined. Remove therefore thesupplied seal from the thread. This seal is not requiredwhen using a welded socket.Screw the level switch into the welded socket. The welded socket has a notch. Weld this socket with thenotch facing upwards, or in the case of pipelines, aligned with the direction of flow.
