Pulpit Committee
Thank you to everyone who took the
time to fill out our survey. We were
able to get all the info we needed from
it to complete our congregational pro-
file and it is ready to go!
We are still needing some pulpit fill volunteers while we
go through the next phase of the minister search. If you
would be willing to give a 10-15 minute message sometime
this summer or fall, please contact Jan Schwarz.
We would like to offer a baptism
class for the fall. If you, or your child is interested in learning about baptism or interested in be-ing baptized, contact Jan Schwarz or Missy to begin picking out a mentor and setting up a class schedule.
*Update* we have had another camper
sign up since the camp page of the News-letter was printed. Caroline Houghton will also be attending the 123 Go! Camp July 16-18. Please add her to your mailing list!!

Worship: Jan Schwarz reported the pulpit is filled through September. Emily
Myers and Zack Craft have both agreed to offer the message once a month. The
other Sundays will be filled by either members of the congregation or congregation
events. She reported it costs about $150, including mileage, for someone outside
the congregation to fill the pulpit. Baptism classes will be held on an as-needed
basis. The participant will choose a mentor and then be provided the appropriate
materials.
Sunday School Superintendent: Valeri Mumford reported they will be decorat-
ing for VBS at 6pm on July 20th. Volunteers are still needed, especially for the sec-
ond grade and Nursery classes. Promotion Sunday will be August 21st at 9am.
Missions: Jane Giffin reported over $10,000 was raised for Backpack Buddies. Jan
Schwarz presented a check for $200 from the Clinton County Historical Society
from rental of the church’s kitchen supplies.
Membership: Betsy White reported over $800.00 was raised at the ice cream so-
cial and donated to Kirby Smith. Plans are being made for the all church float trip
to Bennett Spring. Bob Elliott is in charge.
Antioch Fellowship Center: The plan is to clean the floor of the gym and track
soon. Following discussion, Jennifer Spalding moved we prohibit soccer in the
AFC. Second by Andy Zurow, motion passed.
Pastor Search: Jan Schwarz introduced the draft of the church’s vision, mission
and goals. She reported on the Appreciative Inquiry meeting and reviewed the pro-
file. Angie Spencer is the new member of the committee and they are now meeting
on Sundays after church.
Old Business:
Guttering: Ken’s Custom Guttering submitted a bid to raise the gutters, re-
move the old gutter guards and replace them over the entrance to the office.
Andy Phipps moved we accept the bid and ask him to also look at the area
at the corner of the education wing where we have a problem with ice on
the sidewalk. Second by Jennifer Spalding, motion passed.
New Business:
Mary Watkins approached the board about the possibility of the church pur-
chasing a wall mounted TV/DVD player for use in the upstairs carpeted
area of the AFC. She will determine the cost and report back.
Jan Schwarz moved we compensate any member of the congregation who fills
the pulpit on a monthly basis $100.00 for every time they fill the pulpit.
Splinters from the Board….June 15, 2016
We may not be able to do a lot for others, but one of the things we can for sure do is to remember them in our prayers. Take a moment during your prayer time and pray for each one of these listed below.

Stewardship Thought
We have the opportunity to give thanks through our offering of our-selves and our possessions to the work God calls us to do. We can-not repay God for our lives, our minds, the beauty of earth and sky,
the abundance of resources that we enjoy. But we can respond with acts of gratitude and kindness, with generosity and thanksgiving.
The ladies in the church are invited to attend a bridal shower for Emily Smith in celebration
of her upcoming marriage to Tyler Kerns. The shower is to be held on July 17th at 2:00 pm in the church basement. The couple is
registered at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Dillard's.
An extra special thank you goes out to the
weed pulling crew. Thank you for volunteer-
ing your time during the hottest days so far
this summer to help keep our property looking beautiful. You do
great work!!

Here’s to the Red of it— There’s not a thread of it,
No, nor a shred of it
In all the spread of it From foot to head
But heroes bled for it, Faced steel and lead for it,
Precious blood shed for it, Bathing it Red!
Here’s to the White of it— Thrilled by the sight of it,
Who knows the right of it But feels the might of it
Through day and night? Womanhood’s care for it Made manhood dare for it;
Purity’s pray’r for it Keeps it so White!
Here’s
to the Blue of it-- Beauteous view of it,
Heavenly hue of it,
Constant and true; Diadems gleam for it,
States stand supreme for it Liberty’s beam for it Brightens the Blue!
Here’s to the Whole of it—
Stars, stripes and pole of it, Body and soul of it, O, and the roll of it,
Sun Shining through; Hearts in accord for it
Swear by the sword for it, Thanking the Lord for it, Red, White and Blue!
