Government & Public Affairs Director eff Coyle is Director of Government and Public Affairs for the City of San Antonio. In this role, he is the City’s chief lobbyist and spokesperson, responsible for state and federal legislative affairs and strategic communications and media relations. He also oversees Military Affairs, Open Records, 311 Call Center, Government Access and Public Access television stations and the San Antonio.gov website. Prior to joining the City in 2013, Jeff directed public affairs and government relations for KGBTexas Communications, where he represented a wide range of public and private sector clients at the local, state and federal levels. In 2012, he led a team that helped win voter approval of Mayor Castro’s Pre-K 4 SA initiative and the City of San Antonio $596 million Bond Program. Jeff’s other previous work includes development of the San Antonio Public Library Strategic Plan, San Antonio International Airport Master Plan and the Museum Reach of the San Antonio River Improvements Project. He was named one of the San Antonio Business Journal’s “40 under 40 Rising Stars” in 2011. Jeff began his career as a television reporter and anchor. He was assigned to cover the George W. Bush campaign during the 2000 presidential election, reported live from New York City shortly after 9/11, and has interviewed national political figures such as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Jimmy Carter, the late Senator Ted Kennedy and Texas Governor Rick Perry. He won two Emmy awards and was a finalist for Best Reporter in Texas by the Dallas Press Club.
