2.14 Significant Activities and contributions made by IQAC
IQAC has organized National Seminar on 2.2.2018 on “jk’Vª fodkl ds fofo/k
vk;ke” at the institute in which more than 500 participant and eminent guest speakers
from different renown organization of the country has participated actively.
The college has received supplementary exam centre status from the session 2017-18 after
continuous effort of IQAC.
IQAC has been continuously trying to open PG courses in science and commerce. P. G.
course in commerce has sanctioned by the higher education department in the session 2017-
18.
The college has received new building of 8 Rooms under the RUSA grant. All the rooms
were equipped with CCTV Camera and library has shifted to new building by the
recommendation of IQAC.
Biometric machine has been installed in the college by the recommendation of IQAC.
New Girls Common Room has constructed through MP Fund on demand of IQAC.
New furniture and books has purchased to improve the infrastructural facilities of the
college.

All the major committees of the college are represented in the IQAC and they meet
periodically to plan activities to enhance the quality of student life on the campus.
IQAC has been monitoring the providing of facilities and amenities for students such as
cycle stand, a room for student union members, computerization of library etc. Two new
water coolers has installed in the campus to improve the facilities for the students.
To ensure meticulous observation of the activities mentioned in the Academic Calendar
from the beginning of the session.
To organize and conduct various programmes and competitions such as Orientation
programme, Cleanliness Drive, Yoga Day, Teachers’ Day, Swami Vivekananda 150th
Jayanti Celebrations, NCC Day, Matra Bhasha Divas, Voters Day as per the instructions of
the state government.
Collection of feedback forms from students and their analysis for the betterment of the
college.
Organizing special classes for the weaker students and providing books to economically
weak students.
Organizing seminars and lectures to create awareness among students on career prospects.
The suggestions received after regular meetings of the IQAC are handed over to the
Principal for proper implementation of academic and administrative tasks.
To create awareness among students towards making the campus clean, green and eco –
friendly.
Students are motivated to take active part in sports and regular coaching camps were
conducted for cricket and football.
NCC cadets actively participated in campus, rallies and other events organized by the
government such as `Cleanliness Drive, etc. These cadets also maintained discipline in
college during functions.
NSS volunteers participated in Cleanliness Drives, rallies, runs, Tree Plantation
programmes, one-day and seven day camps, SVEEP programme etc.
The Youth Red Cross Society is instrumental in enabling students to get their blood group
checked.
The college conducted fair and proper elections for the Students Union. Complete
transparency and stringent observance of rules enabled the smooth completion of the
election process.
The members of Student Union participated in a grand Oath-Taking Ceremony. They
participated in various activities of the college such as celebration of several events as per
government directives. Their activities included maintaining discipline in college and
working for student welfare.

Our Vision: The Vision of the College is to serve the social needs and to uplift the living
standards of the rural youths by imparting higher education adhering not only to local area
but also national standards of education and fostering an enduring sense of discipline.
We wishthatthe students of this college should be knowledgeable, polite, conscientious,
physically and mentally healthy, practically efficient, self‐motivated, morally strong, well‐

Quality improvement strategies adopted by the institution for each of the following:
6.3.1 Curriculum Development
The college supreme authority is Department of Higher Education, Government of
Chhattisgarh, so the college is managed under the rules and regulations/ instructions
given by the government. The Principal is the representative of the Department of
Higher Education to look into proper functioning of the college. The college has an
IQAC which is constituted by Principal, senior teachers of the college and two
reputed academicians from outside. Different committees are formed by the Principal
of the college for smooth functioning of the college.
The college is affiliated to Bilaspur University, Bilaspur (C. G.) and it follows the
curriculum and strategies designed by the university. But the college develops
and deploys action plans for effective implementation of the curriculum to
achieve its vision, mission and objectives in the following ways:
2 faculties of the college has contributed in restructuring / revision/syllabus
development as member of Board of Studies in which paper of P. G. in Hindi
Literature has reduced from 5 to 4.
In college brochure, information on different courses, fees structure, admission pr
ocess & form etc. is given in details.
The teachers are sent for orientation and refresher courses organized by the univer
sity.

The College gives greatest importance to teaching learning process and its
improvement.
The rules and regulations set by the government are strictly followed for student’s
admission.
For proper understanding of the subjects lectures with Chalk & talk method of
teaching, field studies, presentation by students, debates, tutorials etc. are
adopted. Many faculties of the college have used power point and ICT as teaching
probe. Motivated the students to use Power Point Presentation for project work.
Special classes for the weaker students were organized and books to economically
weak students also provided.
The teacher's are given full permission to enrich their knowledge through
seminars, refresher and orientation courses, workshops etc.
The Head of institutions consultation with all head of the department, schedule an
academic calendar before the commencement of the session and they maintain
their daily diary and attendance.
Relevant books are also recommended by the teachers to the students along with
the prescribed syllabus.
For preparation of main examination “Question Banks” have been prepared by the
dept./ faculty for the benefit of students.
PG students have been guided by the faculties for preparation of NET and SLET.
One of faculty Mr. Navin Kumar Relwani specially guided the UG students for
preparation of Public Service Commission Examination.
One of faculty Dr. (Mrs.) Rajesh Chaturvedi has actively contributed in
Examination/Evaluation Reforms as a member of examination committee of the
university. 10% Marks of Internal Exam has been added to the final marks of the
UG students from the session 2017-18.
Conduction of internal tests regularly and evaluation and tabulation of marks
also completed. Besides the unit tests, quarterly and model tests are
organized as per academic calendar by the college.
External Examinations are conducted as per the schedule of affiliating
university.

Technology, (C.G.) is being conducted in Department of Chemistry of the college.

The Principal as a head of the institute always motivated the faculties to take up
MRPS gain Ph.D., publish research papers and upgrade their academic knowledge
through new resources like e-books & N-LIST use.
Two new water coolers have been provided in the campus to improve the
facilities for the students.
The college has received new building of 8 Rooms under the RUSA grant.
Library has shifted to new building. About 1100 books have been procured.
Biometric machine has been installed in the college .

In the villages the volunteers created social awareness by campaigning against

Youth Red Cross Society of the college conducted a lecture on Sickle Cell
Anemia” by Health Officer of Masturi Block.
In the college the activities of the Youth Red Cross Society began with organizing

through the self-finance funds of the Jan Bhagidari Samiti.

university from this session through SETU. By this process admission has become

Best practice I
Certificate course for students on career guidance and personality development has
been conducted by Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) in the college to support
students for their career and boost their self confidence.
Best Practice II
To create an eco-friendly, clean and green campus with the support of
Environmental committee, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and members of the
Youth Red Cross Society, faculty and complete cooperation of all first year
students.
Botany department has developed a botanical garden which has several medicinal
plants. The students of the department work tirelessly to create awareness for
conservation of our environment.
NCC unit also has a small but well-maintained garden resplendent with ornamental
plants and beautiful roses.
Tree plantation programmes were organized by the volunteers of NSS units in the
college and creating environmental awareness among the villagers during their
annual camps.
Cleanliness Drive was organized as per the rules of the government in order to
motivate the young students to join actively in the campaign.
The college is equipped with rain water harvesting system.
Garbage of the institute is managed by compost pit.
Effective and safe disposal of laboratory wastes was ensured.
The first year students of the graduate classes were made aware of the hazards of
air, water and noise pollution in nearby area of the college and were guided to
prepare project files for Environmental Studies.

Ours college is the sprawling green campus of 15 acres.

8. Plans of institution for next year
Best Practice I
Title: Certificate course for students on career guidance and personality development has been conducted
by Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) in the college to support students for their career and boost their
self confidence.
Goal: Majority of the students come from villages and belong to economically weaker sections of society
with poor exposure job opportunity, lack of confidence, poor in English Language and communication
and unaware of their social responsibility. Hence, the goal of this practice is to help the students for their
career, improve their confidence, command in English language and develop their communication skill,
and also to help them to be socially responsible citizen.
Context: The employability of the college students continues to remain weak even while there is an acute
shortage of skilled manpower in an increasing number of high demand sectors. The need of the hour is to
increase the employability of the college students by imparting knowledge and skills, through cutting edge
teaching and learning methods as well as practical work experience through internship and community
projects. To shift from subject oriented courses to job oriented and personality development course can
help in dissolving the hesitation of the students to find job after their graduation and post graduation.
Practice: The aim of this best practice is to provide skill based training and personality development
course to strengthen knowledge, skills and capabilities among students. The college has signed MOU with
National University Students' Skill Development (NUSSD) Programme, which is a unique initiative on
skill development designed and undertaken by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in collaboration
with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to enable graduating youths from underprivileged background to
acquire employment oriented skills while pursuing their graduation from the regional colleges. To develop
skills, competencies and knowledge among students this course includes English Communication, Legal
Literacy, Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy, Youth Leadership, People Skills, and domain specific
diploma, which not only help them to gain relevant employability skills along with their degree to find a
suitable career option after graduation but also foster socially conscientious students grounded in respect
for people and concerned about the welfare of others.
Best Practice II
Title: To create a clean, green and eco friendly campus. Goal:
To create awareness among the students for the need of an eco counter the growing hazards of
pollution in Masturi.
