Brief Industrial Profile of – Shamli- District

1. General Characteristics of the District

The District Shamli carved out of muzaffarnagar. This place is famous for

sugar/gud. The land of Shamli is very fertile which makes this place prosperous and

developed. Since formation, this district is developing day by day. The administration

keeps an eye on all the activities and impose law and order accordingly to make the

environment unite and peaceful. The District Shamli has a Lok Sabha Constituency as

02- Kairana and three Assembly Constituency as 10- Shamli, 09- Thanabhawan and 08-

Kairana.

According to a legend Yogeshwar Lord Sri Krishna chosen this route from

Hastinapur to the war zone of Kurukshetra. He took rest under the cool and shady trees of

barne at Hanuman Dham while drinking the fresh water of old well to calm his thirst,

subsequently he blessed this place by worshipping Shri Baba Bajrang Bal. Earlier this

city was known as Shayam Wali then Shyama Nagari and now it is known as Shamli.

According to a legend, here the son of Kunti, Hanuman Dham was built by

Bhima. According to the evidence available to independent Delhi, Maratha soldiers

developed it as Cantonment. Revolutionaries in the freedom movement of India use it for

their hideout deemed safe by all means.

1.1 Location & Geographical Area

Shamli is located at northern part of Uttar Pradesh.

Navratri, Basant Panchami, Eid-ul-Juha, Eid-ul-Fitr, Muharram

1.2 Topography

From the point of view of health the climate of Shamli is very good. Especially from

November to March months the climate of the district is very pleasant due to western

northern airflow. Here summer starts very early. The temperature of the district is varies

from 2º C in winter to 46º C in summer. The wet session normally starts in the end of

June month. The average rainfall is 753 mm; the winter months are virtually dry.

1.3 Availability of Minerals.

No mineral is available in the district.

1.4 FOREST

There is 5484 Hectare of land coves in the forest.

For administrative convenience, the district of Shamli has been divided into two

tehsils and these tehsils are further divided into 5 blocks.

4.1 DETAIL OF MAJOR CLUSTERS

There is Rim and Dhura Udyog cluster in the district.

4.1.1 Manufacturing Sector

Possibilities are to be developed the cluster i.e,

1. A cluster has been developed of manufacturing of Gur ( Prepared by sugar

cane). Shamli is the more sugarcane product district .There is a big wholesale

market of Gur. And it is a Seasonal Industry.

2. There is an axle & hub cluster may be develop in Shamli. There are about 30

units were working and about 250 workers were engaged in this Industry. This

Industry is working in an unorganized sector.

Various central/ state departments are operating similar nature of activities/

schemes with varying subside/ limits, required to be consolidated.

Better Technology Up gradation Scheme with some mechanism for tracking of

application status may be available on line.

Udyog Aadhar filing should be product specific and multiple product specific.

Better loan scheme for self employment for educated unemployed youths.

Interest subsidy to Micro enterprises to attract more entrepreneurs to start new

venture.

MDA scheme should be more attractive.

Procedure for National Awards should be simplified.

Various DC (MSME) schemes must be more entrepreneurs friendly.
