3 Steps to creating AR using the Aurasma app

STEP 1: Download the free Aurasmaapp on iOS or Android

STEP 2: Create an account

• You’ll need:– an email address– a user name– a password

• You will then be taken to the ‘Discover Auras’ screen

• There are links to 3 screens:– Profile (top left of screen)– Discover Auras (top middle of screen)

• Create an Aura (top left of screen)

STEP 3: Create an Aura.

• Take a photo of an object. This will be the trigger for your Aura.

• Choose an overlay from the Library or create your own with your camera (it can be either a photo or video). The overlay will be the AR element that will be displayed when the Aura is triggered.

• Name your overlay. You’ll have an opportunity to reposition your overlay if you wish on the next screen.

• Choose a channel (a collection of your Auras) or create a new one, and decide whether to make it private or public.

• Showcase and share your Aura via email and social media

Do’s and Don’ts

Do

• Choose an object that is framed well

• Choose an object that is permanent

• Make your overlay video short and punchy

• Choose a trigger location that is public or easily accessible

Don’t

• Choose a live, moving object

• Choose an object that is temporary

• Make your overlay video long and boring

• Choose a trigger location that is private or dangerous

Further suggested uses of AR in Legal Education

• Interactive documents (eg voice annotated contracts)

• Interactive court rooms (eg guided court tour)

• Interactive case studies (eg site inspections, forensic crime scene investigations)
