Musical Theatre Workshops

Children’s Art Workshops

Join Props Theatre Company in a week of specialworkshops to learn about, and perform parts fromthree of the most popular musicals ever - BugsyMalone, Joseph, and Blood Brothers.

With the help of choreographers, and an artisticdirector from Anvil Productions, participants willdevelop a two hour show, incorporating treatmentsfrom each musical, and other cabaret style songs.There will be rehearsals on Fri 30 and Sat 31 July.

The show will be performed in the Ucheldre Centre on Saturdays 31July at 7pm, and 21 August at 2 pm.

Primarily for 10 - 16 year-olds, but over 16s more than welcome tojoin in. 10 am - 4 pm £20 for the week

A major new all-Walesexhibition, Following the Flame,is a celebration of Wales’impressive involvement in theOlympic and ParalympicGames, and forms an integralpart of The Power of theFlame, Wales’ contribution tothe Cultural Olympiad, in thebuild up to London 2012.

Anvil's second outdoor production of theweekend is Victorian Theatre. A Master ofCeremonies, complete with bowler hat andgavel, will present a typical Victorianafternoon of entertainment, using thelongest, and most obscure words he can find.

Anvil Productions return for an entertainingsummer weekend of drama, Shakespeareanand Victorian.

Both performances are being performedoutside in Ucheldre's amphitheatre, so comesuitably prepared, although if really foulweather the events will come inside.

Strolling Shakespeare is their first offeringwith jigs and musical scenes from some ofShakespeare's most popular plays, linked bya clown and his company of strollingplayers. The performance includes sonnets and songs from Shakespeare,and scenes from, amongst others, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream,Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet.

A series of four vocal workshops with renowned voice coach Marian Bryfdir,in a step-by-step course to encourage correct breathing and posture,eliminate muscular tension, free the voice, and produce a healthy and morebeautiful sound through a series of exercises and songs.

Workshops will be held in a relaxed, friendly, and supportive atmosphere,and are open to all levels of ability from beginners to more practised singerswishing to further develop their voices. The series also includes a WelshNational Opera (WNO) Choral Singing Day. The series will be followed inearly 2011 by a new course of four opera workshops (15 Jan, 12 Feb, 12Mar, and 3 Apr), leading to the opportunity to perform in Swansea CityOpera’s production of Tosca on 16 April.
