Principal’s Message

Cooperation - Respect – Responsibility

Thank You

Every year is a busy time at school and 2018 has been no exception. I would like to thank everyone who encouraged and supported the students in their learning journey. I greatly appreciate the efforts of all the staff and thank them for their care and dedication to all students. I wish all families a Merry Christmas and a safe, relaxing holiday.

Presentation Night

It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents, family and community members at our annual Presentation Night. The students love to perform for an audience and always give their best performance on the night. I would like to thank the teachers and staff for the effort they put in to making this night a success. Thank you to Mrs Helen McDermott who has made the school blazers. This year will be the last year Helen makes them and now the school will keep the blazers and school captains will hand them back at the end of the year.

Special Positive Behaviour for Learning Reward

Today students who didn’t have a timeout or level all year had morning tea with me as a thank you for their positive behaviour. 27 students received this special reward which is an increase of 25% from last year. Congratulations to all those students!

Year 6 Farewell

The Year 6 Farewell will be held tonight at 6:30pm at the Goolgowi Ex-Servicemen’s Club. The students have prepared posters and photo stories outlining their journey through primary school. Tonight they will recall fond memories and interesting events during the past 7 years. The whole school community wish them all the best at high school next year!

We bid farewell to the Litchfield and Langridge families who have had a long

association with the school. Connor and Jarrod are the last family members to complete their primary education at Goolgowi and we wish these families all the best for the future. I would especially like to thank Michelle and Ian Langridge for their involvement in the P & C where Ian has taken on executive roles, both have helped in so many fundraising events and working bees and Michelle has assisted with the Garden Club.

Pool Party

This Wednesday all students will be participating in the pool party. It will be a great way to end a busy year of learning. Students may wear casual clothes on Wednesday. The weather forecast is for a hot day so please come prepared.

Students will need to bring:

Swimmers, rashy/swim shirt

Towel

Broad brimmed hat

Sunscreen to be applied by the student

Drink bottle - plenty of water

Students may bring thongs or similar slip on footwear to wear to the pool

Recess and snacks

The SRC decided their Return & Earn treat would be ice creams, a small can of drink and some chips. The P&C has kindly donated lunch for students. We will be having a sausage sizzle. Each student will be given a poppa.

Students will have Crunch and Sip at school and then walk to the pool. We will return to school at approximately 2:00 pm to do a final check and tidy up.

Pool entry has been covered by the school.

Expression of Interest

The school is looking for someone to relieve Neville Ziebarth in his general assistant position while he is on leave from the 17 December until the 29 March 2019. The position is for 9 and a half hours per week. The person would be in charge of maintaining

the lawns and gardens at the school and minor maintenance of buildings and equipment. Applicants must have their Working With Children Check. If you are interested in this relieving position, please contact the school for the full statement of duties. Applicants will need to submit their resume to the school office or email it to the school at [email protected]. Applications close on the 19 December.

Library Books

Please encourage students to have a look for their library books and return them. Mrs Furner is currently doing a stocktake of the library so she would greatly appreciate the borrowed books being returned.

Rocks, Rocks & More Rocks!

The school is currently removing the rocks from the garden edges. If anyone would like some for their garden, please contact the school.

K-2 News

It is the end of another amazing and busy year. Thank you to everyone for your support and help during the year. Students learn so much in the early years of school and sometimes we need to just take time to appreciate each individual person. Yesterday as a class we brainstormed words to describe each student. Then I created a wordle which was sent home yesterday. Please read these and enjoy.

I wish everyone a joyful, fun filled and peaceful Christmas and lots of happiness in 2019.

Mrs Robertson

5/6 News

I would thank all the students in the 5/6 and 3/4 classes for a wonderful year. Your excellent behaviour and mature attitude towards learning has made teaching you a very rewarding and enjoyable experience for all of us. I am looking forward to working and guiding many of you again next year on your educational journey.

All the best to our Year 6 students as they enter high school. Go, be amazing! I cannot wait to find out all the fantastic achievements you will accomplish in the years to come.

Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday to all.
