Upload files/folder from your computer and have a copy on Drive

Create a new Docs file --------> Like Microsoft Word

Create a new Sheets file --------> Like Microsoft Excel

Create a new Slides file --------> Like Microsoft Powerpoint

Google Drive How To Save Files from your Computer to Google Drive

1. Click New and then File Upload

2. A Window will appear and you will need to locate the file you wish to upload. Once you find it, select it and click open

3. Your file should then be successfully uploaded

By double clicking your document, you generate a preview. You cannot make edits on MS Word docs.

If you wish to continue working on your document on drive, click on “open with” and select Google Docs.

In doing so, you will be creating a “google doc” copy of your Microsoft Word file.

A new tab will open with a google doc version of your original file. Here you can edit your document. Google Docs also autosaves so you won’t have to worry about losing your work.

Back on your Drive, you can see that they are two copies of the original file. One MS Word and the other a Doc file

Google Drive Let's say you are satisfied with you document but you need to either convert it back to MS Word or if you need a digital copy

1. Click File

2. Download As

3. Microsoft Word (or any file type you require)

After you click on which file format you want, the file will be sent to your download folder on your computer.

This same process can also be done with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Google Drive How to share google docs, sheets, or slides with other google users?

Let's say for example that you are working on a group project that requires multiple people to collaborate. Instead of waiting and emailing files to each other, you can share files on Google drive.
