What is Google+

• Google+ is Google’s approach to social media or you can say Google+ is a social networking site like facebook.

• It was launched in mid 2011

• It is also the second largest social networking site after facebook.

• Over 500 million active people all over the world are on Google+.

• Facebook is the main competitor when we talk about Social networking giants. It’s the daddy cool of all social networking sites.

• Google+ may not be very popular but it is gaining popularity at rapid growth and studies suggest that Google+ will overtake facebook in about two years. Moreover, Google is known to be best in what it does.

• But the biggest advantage that Google+ has is that its all in one. With a little bit of learning, we realise that it does it does not only do what facebook does. But has many other uses that can be very useful to us.

• We will talk about all the great features that Google+ has in a few minutes.

• Register your user name at https://plus.google.com/

• About page is very important. It affects recommendations.

• The information on the Google+ account can be used as an online resume and people hiring us can see this information.

CirclesThe concept of circles make Google+ public and private at the same time.

People tab is where you find various people you can contact to and add them in their circles.

Because of this place many people just leave Google+.

The basic tools that will help you finding the people of your interest is the discover tab and the search.

As you find any person you can add him or her into your circles.

To make a text appear bold when posting something we have to put text between asterisks and to make a text italic, we have to put underscores(_).

While sharing a particular post we can select which circles can see that particular post.

You can even see who actually made the post if it has been shared a lot many times by clicking the down arrow from the top right corner of the post and the clicking show ripples

With the help of ripples you can add the right people. If some particular post interests you, you can see who originally had made the post and talk to him by adding him to your circles.

•Access files others have shared with you on Google Drive.

•Cloud storage helps us to eliminate the use of flash drives as we can put any data on out Google Drive account and share it with any person on Google Drive and share files larger than 25MB.

Google Drive is just like Dropbox with added functionalities like editing a particular file. You can add and edit almost any kind of file and send it as an email to someone.

Sharing fileWhen you try sharing a particular file with anyone, you have to right click on that particular file and select share. We can see that we can set whether the viewer can edit the file or just comment or just be able to view the file.

Google drive has a feature called ‘revision history’.

It is a feature that you don’t usually need but when you need, you really need it.

As the documents are constantly being saved when you work with Google drive. Lets say that we made a major error and lost everything and we cant get it back. Revision history lets us save the previous state.
