Goodbye Mrs Donnelly!Goodbye Mrs Donnelly!After 18 years of teaching at Southdale, our lovely Mrs Donnelly has decided to embark on new adventures and therefore will be leaving us at the end of July.

I am sure you join us in wishing her the very best and thanking her for being such an integral part of our Southdale community over the last eighteen years!

After Captain Greed warned us to go home, we were left with only one choice – to become pirates!

This week, we have undergone rigorous pirate training. From singing and writing sea shanties, to dancing merry jigs, to navigating a map at Springmill - we really have been busy!

Shiver me timbers and batten down the hatches, because now year 3 are a crew of fully fledged pirates!

Juba and his siblings have had to flee from the evil Emperor Domitian!

We have been busy looking at the route they took to Londinium and what their ship was like.

We have also written diary entries and found out about the Roman settlement of Londinum.

Well, after a long and treacherous journey, some of our intrepid Y5 climbers have successfully reached the summit of Everest! The views from the top really were so amazing that we just had to write our own descriptions.

To showcase our geographical knowledge, we have written our own quiz-style questions this week.

It is all getting a bit cold in science as we start a series of ice experiments!

Year 6

We have been improving our survival skills this week by learning how to tie effective knots and build shelters.

Our writing is just getting better and better; we cannot wait to publish these suspense texts that we have written this week.

Our geographical knowledge is now second to none – we can name countries, capitals, regions and even flags!
