PENTECOST SUNDAY

CATHOLICS AND PENTECOSTALS CONVENE AND FELLOWSHIP IN FRANKFORT: Catholics

& Protestants together??? YES! In celebration of the

solemnity and season of Pentecost, the birthday of the

Church and the coming of the Holy Spirit, an

Ecumenical Praise & Worship, Prayer and Word

Gathering will be celebrated between two Christian

faith-traditions in Frankfort, KY. Rev. Charles Howell,

Pastor of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church and

Rev. Scott Bowman, Pastor of New Harvest Assembly

of God invite you to gather ecumenically and seek what

the Holy Spirit may have in store for the edification,

exhortation and healing in the Body of Christ. We will

gather on Saturday, June 15th at 10:30 a.m. to share in

Prayer, Praise, Worship, Word with a Potluck

Fellowship afterward at New Harvest Assembly of God

3864 US-127 Frankfort, KY. Bring your Bibles, and a

potluck dish if possible. Sponsored by the Diocesan

Catholic Charismatic Renewal Leadership Committee.

All are welcome. For more information, contact Shelley

Parkerson at 606-308-3850 or [email protected].

Stewardship: A Way of Life In the first reading today, from Acts, we see the Holy Spirit moving through the newly confirmed Apostles “who

began to speak in different tongues as the Spirit enabled

them to proclaim.” The large crowd, gathered from all

over the world, were “amazed” that each one could understand the Apostles speaking in their own language.

Each one of us is personally called today by the Holy Spirit into that same mission as the Apostles — to advance

the Kingdom of God in our corner of the world. Just as He

did on that Pentecost day, the Holy Spirit speaks to us in

our “own language” to give us the Good News of the Gospel and urges us to share it.

We can think of our own language as the particular gifts, talents and passions we possess. We truly serve a personal

God who sees each of us as unique and individual

creations. Therefore each one of us has a personal mission to fulfill through the use of our personal gifts and talents in

grateful service of the Kingdom of God.

As in the second reading where St. Paul explains: “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;

there are different forms of service but the same Lord;

there are different workings but the same God…To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some

benefit.”
