Eight years seems like an eternity but sometimes when you put so much effort into something you need a must needed rest to refocus and take a step back to review what you believe in and not release something that you feel is not at your heart. Sometimes after such rest you end up coming back full force and re-energized and that sums up their latest release “Peace In Our Time”. On this release unlike their earlier works there are no opening “Political sound bites” just a full on fast beat title track called “Disputatio” that they also used as a promo track for the release.Make no mistake after 25 years of playing aggressive punk hardcore fuse Good Riddance blazes forward with an even tighter form, smoother harmonic guitar rifts to tempo breaks and chorus speed, opening riffs and fast snare and symbol work notoriously known throughout their releases. Just like some of their classics like “Mother Superior” songs like “Dispu-tatio and Dry Season are more classic sounding. “Peace In Our Time” has many amazing well crafted vocally feel good vibes that have lyrical content on social awareness values and consciousness that makes you think. As always Good Riddance’s position on social values and political awareness shines through on the lyrical content but in a deeper more personal di-rection. Songs like “Grace and Virtue” and “Washed Away” are songs that have personal meaning and touch deep. While well carried through the album makes you feel good and will motivate without any hesitation. The mastering as always isn’t something that this band isn’t, what you hear is what you get live a solid energetic punk rock with meaning. The end song “Glory Glory” will be a instant live peformance chant that will reflect what this band is all about “Unity”.
