• We don’t know everything.

• There are cleverer, more experienced regions in a given field.

• We can save time and other resources.

• We can get tested methods.

• We can analyse experiences

with the donor region.

The chosen good practice

• 55 best practices in TOURAGE project

• 18 good practices connect to active and health tourism

• Warmia-Mazury Senior Games,

Association of Polish Communes

of Euroregion Baltic, Poland

Warmia-Mazury Senior Games

• The idea come from Netherland (2009).

• The first game was organised in Poland 2012.

• 1025 participants from 14 countries (Estonia, the Netherlands, Russia, Germany, Lithuania, Belgium, Canada, Sweden, Great Britain, the USA, Ukraine, Denmark and Spain)

• The second was organised in August 2014 with

more participants and involving more countries.

Warmia-Mazury Senior Games

Main Objectives:

• Promotion of sports among people aged 45+.

• Promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

• Promotion of social activity, openness, tolerance and respect for all nations, cultures and religions, ages and lifestyles.

• Maintaining international dialogue (cooperation with foreign and international organisations and institutions).

Why have we chosen this good practice?

• Our region Lake Balaton Region is the second most visited destination in Hungary.

• Active tourism connecting to the water.

• Promoting health and active tourism for elderly generations.

„Move Balaton” programme series

• Started 2004. 9 settlements around the Lake.

• This year 32 settlements around the Lake.

• Mainly beach sports (beach football, beach volleyball, streetball, table tennis etc.)

• 25-30 thousand participants during the summer.

• Mainly young generations.

Implementation of good practice transfer

• Contacting with organizer of "Move Balaton"

• Introduction of TOURAGE project and the Senior Games good practice

• Agreement about pilot action during this summer

• Appointments with the responsible persons (animators) of the individual locations

• Selecting the appropriate sport disciplines (penalty kicking, streetball penalties, table tennis)

Study visit in Olsztyn Warmia-Mazury Senior Games

• 28-29th of August 2014. • Direct experiences from the original

competition • Appointment with the organizers • Useful information about the financial

conditions and the marketing tools

Results and next steps

• 10% of the participants were 45+ • 40%of the settlements delegated senior

team to the closing event. • Positive feedbacks. • Next year maybe independent senior day

within the series or extended sport disciplines in every locations.
