On Easter Sunday, April 16, we celebrated the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It was truly a beautiful day full of music, handbells, trumpet, and the Word, with over 400 people in attendance for the three morning worship services. The Sunrise service at 6:30 am began outside on the lawn as parishioners decorated the cross with greens and flowers and proceeded to process inside to adorn the barren Sanctuary with flowers, candles, and communion elements. The 8:30 am and 11:00 am services were alive with special music and an Easter message from Pastor Tracy. Near the end of both regular worship services, Lisa Gibbs- Smith gave a brief overview of our church’s perceived call to “Living Love” within our own church, our broader community, and our nation. She asked each person to take the “post-it” note that was attached to the bulletin and write what Living Love means to them and/or how we can move forward in this call. “What word, action, or idea can you share as we listen together for God’s guidance? What step forward might we take as a church?” There were whiteboards placed at the front and rear of the Sanctuary, and by the end of both services, the boards were filled with expressions of hopes and desires, ideas for living out our love for each other, and deep longings for justice and mercy in our world. 182 people contributed to this vital brainstorm. We are currently compiling everyone’s thoughts and ideas and will communicate where we think God is leading us as a whole in Living Love. Clarendon UMC s 606 N.

Near the end of both regular worship services, Lisa Gibbs-Smith gave a brief overview of our church’s perceived call to “Living Love” within our own church, our broader community, and our nation.

Happenings & MilestonesLOVING GRATITUDEThanks to Rande Young and her 2–3 grade Sunday School Class, as well as Dianne Swanson and Paul Gibert, for planting the beautiful flowers at the Corry Hall entrance off the parking lot. The garden was in full bloom just in time for Easter Sunday! Rande would like to solicit other “Gardeners on Call” to help with sprucing up the church flower beds. If you have any bulbs (Iris, Peonies, Dahlias, etc.) that you would like to share with the church to plant this spring, please let us know. In addition, the Outreach Ministry is working on a proposal to install a “Plot for Hunger” vegetable garden which would provide food for AFAC. We will need willing hands to maintain this effort. Families welcome! Contact Catie Christiaanse ([email protected]) for information.

GIVING LOVE Every fall our stewardship ministry reaches out to the church family to make monetary donations to support the life of the church for the coming year. Please contact Lief ([email protected]) or Karen ([email protected]) if you would like to be a part of envisioning our future and working toward making it a reality. Their first meeting will be held in May.

OUTREACH UPDATEOn April 1, the Honduras Mission Team gave

a presentation of their recent trip to the

Honduras Independence Bilingual School

(HIBS) with Glen Evans. They were inspired

and educated about local families and

customs, encouraged by teachers providing

knowledge and mentoring to the students,

and are ready to go back to experience this

important ministry. Glen brought pictures of

many of the children at the school that need

monetary support to sustain the education

needed to lift them out of poverty.

You can support a child for $70

a month, or give any amount

towards their education here:
