Thank you again on behalf of the ERM Societyand the St. Peter’s Mission Team for making thisannual joint project such a success.

Norma Borgmann, ERM President

Friends,We are now halfway through the first year of our

“revitalization period.” I have been working with avision team consisting of Melinda Graham, JudyLuer, DiAnn Caraker, Norma Borgmann, andmyself. We meet at least monthly and work onsetting goals for the congregation of St. Peter UnitedChurch of Christ, as well as suggested actions forachieving those goals. We meet next Thursday,September 19th, 6:30 at the church. Would youpause wherever you are that evening and say a prayerfor our work?

We want the church to grow in numbers, butmaybe even more important is that we all growspiritually, grow in our relationship with God and ourenthusiasm for worshiping God together. You haveseen some of our ideas in action already: worship inthe park on the first Sunday of the month, and theclean-up- our- neighborhood day we held in August. We have bookmarks to hand out which list ourcontact information and ways to get involved at St.Peter. Pick up some from the table in the narthex togive to your friends who don’t have a church home.

This effort will take everyone in the congregation, and here are some ways you can participate:

1. PRAY for the church every day. Keep St.Peter constantly in your prayers. Join in the prayerchain which will be forming soon, to pray for othersand for the church.

2. Volunteer with others from St. Peter at therecycling center on October 12. Let the communitysee St. Peter’s congregation in action for the earth'shealth.

3. Come to clean up the community. We’ll jointo pick up trash on our section of Broadway and thearea around the church on October 9 (rain date oneweek later) to have our community looking good intime for our anniversary celebration and Wurstmart.

4. PRAY for the church every day. This monthpray for the teams and council as they prepare anannual budget.

5. Tell your friends about St. Peter and invitesomeone to come to church with you.

6. Watch for upcoming bi-monthly gatherings forthe purpose of preparing meals for our shut-ins.

7. PRAY for the health and well-being of St.Peter United Church of Christ.

Oh, did I forget to mention that everyone needs topray without ceasing for the church? Only withGod’s help can we become the church God wants usto be.

I am excited and honored to be part of thisrevitalization effort.

Stephen Chontofalsky was the only one thatwas able to be there to pick his up in person; TiffanyReichenbacher hasn’t figured out how to be twoplaces at once! (And if she figures out a way to do itI hope she lets the rest of us know how!)

Their thank you notes from both follow below.

I would like to thank my church family at St.Peter United Church of Christ for awarding me ascholarship. This is my senior year at SoutheastMissouri University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Iwill graduate in May 2014 with a double major inCorporate Communication and HospitalityManagement. This summer, I completed myinternship at Mount Pleasant Winery in Augusta,Missouri. I am also returning to work at the IsleCasino in Cape Girardeau as a server in the buffetrestaurant. Thank you again for all of your support.

Sincerely, Tiffany Reichenbacher

I owe St. Peter my utmost gratitude for giving methe scholarship award for the past four years. I amcompleting my Senior year at Southern IllinoisUniversity Edwardsville this fall and will graduate, ifall goes to plan, at the end of the Spring 2014semester. I am studying to get my bachelor’s degreefor Liberal Studies with an emphasis in film and TVproduction and a minor in Mass Communications. Iwant to direct films for a living and this educationI’m receiving is preparing me for that in a multitudeof ways. This is an extraordinarily competitive fieldand sometimes even the best work goes completelyunnoticed. As such, it is very nice to have people inyour corner, supporting what you are trying to do.That’s what St. Peter has done for me. The financialcontribution I have received from the church for thelast four years helps ease the pain of trying to payback college loans while working hard on filmswhich may pay me very little. But it’s what I love todo so I am going to pursue it. It means a lot that youall believe in me and I think about it often. In additionto helping finance my own education, I hope to passon the generosity you all have shared with me as Iwork with a friend on starting an online film festivalfor all aspiring film makers looking to be heard anddiscovered. Thank you again.

Yours, Stephen Chontofalsky

Our church will host a “Bagging/Pricing” time onSaturday, October 5th at 9:30 a.m. in our church’sFellowship Hall (just like what we have donebefore). All workers certainly welcomed as well asany food and/or cash donations.

If you are able to help in the Country Storeduring a specific time on 10/6, please let me know. Iwill gladly convey that to the coordinators. (I will beworking the entire time at the Country Store as aconsultant on the day of the Fall Festival). All of theStore’s profits will be designated for futurecamp/retreat scholarships.

Also, there is a need for a themed basket(s) to beentered into the Silent Auction at the Fall Festival inthe Oak Lodge. All of this specific revenue isdeposited into the General Fund of DuBoisCenter—the same source for all of the food, vendors, and recreational fees. Please help to promote the 37 th

anniversary of DuBois Center's Fall Festival. Let’shope for nice weather!!

Just as a reminder, the finale of our church’s150th anniversary will be observed on Sunday,October 13 with Rev. Dr. Sheldon Culverth

preaching during the worship service. A potluckmeal will be served afterwards in the FellowshipHall. Some of you signed on the original reservationsheet as sent in the January letter—however, therewill be additional forms on top of the red RSVP boxon the narthex table.

You may also verbally tell Norma of your intentto be in attendance for the meal. This will give thecommittee an estimate for setting up the tables in theFellowship Hall. Just bring your favorite dish toshare with the others. Table service and beverageswill be provided.
