Mrs Robb has also launched an exciting transition project for Year 12 Art pupils to
prepare for Post-16 study.
The project involves documenting aspects of pupils’
lives and personalities through a combination of
drawings, paintings and text/words in a sketchbook.
Mrs Robb has shared further ideas for completing
the project on the Year 12 Art Google Classroom.

You may also wish to explore the various careers videos that have
been uploaded to the school website.
There are a range of videos featuring
professionals who discuss what it is like to work
in their industry, including Dr. Katie Liston from
Amazing Brains who talks about teaching and
research in the field of Social Science. There are
videos from solicitors, wedding planners,
firefighters, animators and more! They are
definitely worth checking out while you consider
your options for Post-16 study and beyond!
Showing Care for Otherswith Pope Francis
In Laudato Si’ – the letter written by Pope Francis – the Pope asks
us to show care for others, to recognise that we need one another
and that we all need to encourage a ‘culture of care’. Pope Francis
calls this ‘social love’. Even making small gestures to show our
thanks to others helps to build a better world. The Covid-19
pandemic is causing us to think of others who are working to keep
our hospitals and health services open, to look after and care for
those who are ill. Pope Francis invites us ‘to seek a new beginning’
– by showing care for others.
During Social Distancing, our well-being depends on others
Look at each of the beatitudes on the previous slide
• Which beatitude best represents you?
• How are your actions during ‘social distancing’ helping others?
• Who is helping you and how are their actions helping you?
• Draw and label two other ‘beatitudes’ that you could add to thediagram.
“We must regain the connection that we need one another, that we have ashared responsibility for others ……and that being good and decent are worth it”paragraph 229
“Love, overflowing with small gestures of mutual care is also civic and politicaland makes itself felt in every action that seeks to build a better world” paragraph231
Being grateful toothers can help usto develop ‘sociallove’.
Each Thursday during our ‘social distancing’ at 8pm we share a positive gestureshowing thanks to the NHS. What other gestures are communities in Belfastmaking?
• What positive gestures can I take to show my gratitude and care to those thatI share my home with/live with?
• What positive gestures can I take to show my gratitude and care to oneperson outside my family that I depend on – this could be in school/ shops/ ormy community.
• Choose one meal today. List others who made your meal possible – start withthe growing of the food itself. Take a few minutes to say thank you.
• Write a 5-point plan of how you will put in place a habit – a ‘new beginning’ –to show how you will thank others going forward.

This Saturday 9th May is the Feast of
St. Louise
Loving and compassionate God, we
celebrate with great joy the faith and
works of St. Louise de Marillac. Instill in
us the fire of her love, the tenacity of her
belief, and the tenderness of her care for
the most abandoned. Draw us together
into the light of your presence and help
us to trust in the power of your Spirit,
leading us ever closer to you.
St Louise de Marillac,
pray for us
