Bob’s Thoughts... Doing Good

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed.” Psalms 37:3

Some people think that we must do “good” to prove our faithfulness and love to God so that we will merit His provisions. Not so! The Bible calls that works, and works don’t work. Jesus makes that clear to the Pharisees. The Pharisees were a group of religious leaders - the best of the best. Yet Jesus told them in numer-ous ways that even their righteousness, the best that they could do, was as filthy rags to God. Doing good is never how you prove the genuineness of your trust; it is simply the by-product of your trust. Here’s how it works, God’s plan for living is simple: trust and obey. Simply rely upon Christ by living your life in total de-pendency on Him. When you trust in the Lord, then you will do good. It’s the inevitable result of living a life in reliance upon Him! Not only will the Lord do good to you, but He will enable you to do good as well. And it doesn’t get any better than that! In Psalm 37:3, God says that as you trust Him, you will be fed, i.e. He will provide for you! Or as the Apostle Paul put it, God will supply all your needs. Furthermore, your Heavenly Father wants to provide you with a peaceful, pleasant dwelling place. This is the “promised land” that God offers to all of those who obey Him! A dwelling place where we can truly live, not just exist. Everyone needs a secure dwell-ing place, a place where they can truly live. This is the abundant life that Jesus described as one of His stated purposes in coming to earth, to establish “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed.”

Have a Great Week!! Bob

Thank You South Main, Thank you so much, Ladies, for the awesome meal that you all provided to our family after our mother’s, Abbie Claxton’s, funeral service. Everything was ab-solutely delicious and so very much appreciated. We would also like to thank the singers for the beautiful singing that you provided at the funeral ser-vice. Your voices were angelic and just added so much to the beauty of Momma’s service.

The Family Life…

Needed for the Resource Room As you go through old magazines, please don’t throw them away! We need lots of new (old) maga-zines in our Resource Room. The children use them often for various craft projects. Also needed for the Resource Room, we will list an item each month that we are in constant need of sup-plying. We do have a budget for these resources, but, if you could toss a few of these items into your cart when you shop, it would free up some of our funds to put towards some newer, updated items for our chil-dren & teachers. Thank you for your help!!

Christian Homes’ 9th Annual “Call Her Blessed” Join Christian Homes & Family Services for our 9th annual Mother's Day-themed luncheon to honor the special women in your life. You'll want to share the day with your mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt, best friend, sister, and sisters-in-Christ. Our speaker, Angela Thomas, is the featured speaker on the na-tional Women of Joy tour, and the best-selling author of 16 books whose titles include 52 Things Kids Need From a Mom, Choosing Joy, and My Single Mom Life. She is also the author and teacher of six current LifeWay DVD Bible studies. April 26, 11:30 at GABC Crosswalk. Call 903.509.0558 for tables or tickets.
