Good Afternoon,

Haere-mai!

St Paul’s Collegiate School

Chapel Of Christ The King

A Service of Midday Prayer

Wednesday, April 19, 2023

Persons struggling with violence, injustice, pain and suffering call for our help.

We respond with understanding, forgiveness

and compassion.

May the tears of young and old be our every waking concern.

It is God who made us, and to God we belong; we are

God's people.

We are the hands and feet of Jesus the Christ to bring forth the reconciling spirit of God's love.

Help us to offer the healing and hope in our homes, with our friends, in our

communities and in the world

We are called to actions that lead to clean air and water, affordable homes, health care and education for all, the opportunity to work for a living wage and new

attitudes that build communities founded on reconciliation and healing.

We are called to be the peace we seek in our own lives through acts of love

and justice

Together, with God’s help, forgiveness, healing and reconciliation can transform the world.

So be it

THOU, WHOSE ALMIGHTY WORD

Thou, Whose almighty WordChaos and darkness heard,

And took their flight;Hear us, we humbly pray,

And, where the Gospel’s daySheds not its glorious ray,

Let there be light!

Spirit of truth and love,Life giving, holy Dove,Speed forth Thy flight;

Move on the water’s faceBearing the lamp of grace,

And, in earth’s darkest place,

Let there be light!

Blessèd and holy Three,Glorious Trinity,

Wisdom, love, might!Boundless as ocean’s tide,

Rolling in fullest pride,Through the world far and wide,

Let there be light!

Please Be Seated

Isaiah 2: 1-6Isaiah 2: 1-6

Bible Reading

This is the message that I was given about Judah and Jerusalem:

In the future, the mountain with the LORD's temple will be the highest of all.

It will reach above the hills; every nation will rush to it. Many people will come and say, "Let's go to the

mountain of the LORD God of Jacob and worship in his temple."

The LORD will teach us his Law from Jerusalem, and we will obey him. He will settle arguments between

nations. They will pound their swords and their spears into

rakes and shovels; they will never make war or attack one another.

People of Israel, let's live by the light of the LORD.

Let Us Pray . . . . . .

Gracious God; you have commanded us to love our enemies. You yourself gave your life for those who

were motivated by hatred.

Our Father, in heaven, hallowed be your name....

You have watched humanity fight and scrap. You have watched with sadness as your creation is hoarded and divided for spoil under the guise of dominion. Help us seek your will in our lives. Make us your

ambassadors as well as your disciples.

Your Kingdom come, your Will be done, on earth as in

heaven....

You sent your only Son so that your people; All your people, might truly know your love and your peace. In a time of war,

our hearts need your assurance and your presence confirmed. May our leaders be guided with your wisdom and compassion.

Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our sins as we forgive

those who sin against us...

It is so easy to reap a harvest of anger and revenge. Our hearts so easily fill with rage and discord. Forgive us our anger and

grant us hearts of renewing peace. Help us be mirrors of your life even in times of discord.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil

We pray for a new chapter of peace to open. Before the momentum of hatred eclipses our strength to

control it, grant us peace within.

For the Kingdom, the power and the glory are your now and

forever...

Create in us a clean heart and peaceful mind. This is the nature of your Kingdom; this is the basis of your

power, and this is the joy of your Glory. Give us peace.

Amen

Dismissal

We dedicate ourselves to enabling peace with justice throughout the world.

We are many people, walking many different paths,

seeking peace.

We give praise and gratitude for God's love that nurtures every community.

We search for justice for those who have waited so

long.

We come together, as we share healing words of forgiveness and seek to live in peace.

May peace prevail in our hearts and among all people everywhere.

Amen

JESUS CHRIST IS WAITING

Jesus Christ is waitingWaiting in the streets

No one is his neighbourAll alone he eatsListen Lord JesusI am lonely too

Make me friend or stranger

Fit to wait on you.

Jesus Christ is ragingRaging in the streets

Where injustice spiralsAnd all hope retreats

Listen Lord JesusI am angry too

In the Kingdom’s causesLet me rage with you

Jesus Christ is healingHealing in the streets

Curing those who sufferTouching those He greets

Listen Lord JesusI have pity too

Let my care be activeHealing just like you.

Jesus Christ is dancingDancing in the streets

Where each sign of hatredHis strong love defeats

Listen Lord JesusI feel triumph too

On suspicion’s graveyardLet me dance with you

Jesus Christ is callingCalling in the streets

“Come and walk faith’s tightrope

I will guide your feet”Listen Lord Jesus

Let my fears be fewWalk one step before me

I will follow you.
