Gold’s China syndrome
The continued rise of China and its passion for gold has introduced a cultural
revolution into investment.
China’s ambitious move to exert more control over the pricing of gold – its
launch in April of the yuan-denominated price fix - has sparked concerns that the
Shanghai Gold Exchange will suck up a lot of the world’s physical gold.
This year’s Precious Metals Investment Symposium in Sydney in October, whose
theme is “investing for real wealth in a volatile global market”, will provide in-
sights into the effects that China and other key players will likely have on gold.
International speakers will join local experts at the conference, which will bring
together every aspect of the precious metals investment industry – explorers,
producers, bullion companies, hard-asset investment vehicles, coin dealers and
investors.
