Hordle Lakes is situated in the village of Hordle within the New Forest National
Park Hampshire. New Milton 1.3 miles, Lymington 5 miles, Christchurch 8
miles, Cadnam (M27) 15.5 miles, Bournemouth 15 miles.
The Fishery
Hordle Lakes has been established for over 30 years and has been developed
into one of the best commercial fisheries in the south catering for coarse
anglers of all ages and abilities, specimen carp anglers and fishing clubs who
hold regular matches.
The fishery has the benefit of its own parking enabling easy access to all the
lakes. The lakes are spring fed and heavily stocked with carp, tench, perch,
bream, roach, chub and rudd. The fishery has become recognised nationally
and is achieving regular coverage in various angling publications.
Lake 1 - Spring Lake
Extending to approximately 0.7 acres (0.28 ha) with 20 pegs and a maximum
depth of 5 feet. Stocked with carp up to 24lbs, tench 7lbs, bream 6lbs, perch
3lbs, roach and rudd.
Lake 2 - Bob’s Lake
Extending to 1.5 acres (0.6 ha) with 35 pegs and a maximum depth of 10 feet.
This is the main specimen lake, heavily stocked with carp up to 30lbs, tench,
roach, rudd, bream and perch to over 4lbs.
Lake 3 - Long Lake
Extending to 0.6 acres (0.24 ha) with 20 pegs and a maximum depth of 5 feet.
Stocked with carp up to 24lbs, roach 2lbs, rudd, perch, skimmer, bream and
tench.
Lake 4 - Tench Lake
Extending to 0.3 acres (0.12 ha) with 15 pegs and a maximum depth of 4.5 feet.
Stocked with carp to over 16lbs and a good head of tench to 4lbs and a
mixture of roach, rudd and bream.

Lake 5 - Tiddler Lake
Extending to 0.1 acres (0.04 ha) with 10 pegs and a
maximum depth of 5 feet. This pool is an ideal fishing
experience for youngsters and is heavily stocked with carp
up to 5lbs, perch and a variety of silver fish.
Lake 6 – Willow Lake
Extending to 0.7 acres (0.28 ha) with 20 pegs and a
maximum depth of 6 feet. Stocked with mirror and
common carp up to 20lbs, tench to 5lbs, roach to 2lbs,
skimmer, bream and perch.
Lake 7 – Canal Lake
Extending to approximately 0.2 acres (0.08 ha) with 10 pegs
and a maximum depth of 3 feet. The lake is stocked heavily
with carp up to 15lbs, tench, roach, rudd and bream.
Lake 8 – Stock Pond
At the southern end of the fishery the current owners have
developed a stock pond where fry are brought on and then
stocked into the fishing lakes.
Buildings
The fishery benefits from a number of temporary buildings
current utilised for site management, tackle/bait sales and
storage.
The buildings include:
Two bedroom six berth mobile home (28ft x 12ft) with
planning permission for a replacement temporary dwelling.
Purpose built toilet block.
Container currently used as Bailiff’s office, tackle and bait
store. Cabin used as equipment storage.
Two further containers used for storage.
The Business
Income is generated from the sale of day tickets and match
fees, tackle and bait sales. Accounts will be available to
interested parties after viewing.

Planning permission (49367) was granted on the 13th May
1992 for Hordle Lakes to be used as a commercial coarse
fishery with the use of a Bailiff’s caravan.
Permission (17/00004) was granted on the 23rd March
2017 for a Certificate of Lawful Development for the
proposed replacement and temporary siting of a mobile
home.
Permission (18/00185) was granted on 2nd March 2018,
enabling the mobile home to be occupied by the bailiff of
the fishery and their dependants on a full time basis. The
local planning authority have confirmed that the definition
of a mobile home permits the construction of a unit up to:

From Lymington take the A337 to Everton. Follow this
road for approximately 2 miles. At the roundabout,
take the second exit onto Milford Road. Bear right
onto Christ Church Road and continue on the A337.
