Memorial Day Weekend

As we celebrate Memorial Day weekend, we would like to first and foremost, thank every US serviceman or woman for supporting our country and for defending our great nation. We will never forget all the sacrifices that were made, and we have both the obligation and privilege to thank those who served to protect our freedoms, during war and during peacetime. We honor our fallen comrades and the families that were left behind, and we celebrate their courage, dedication, and we will always remember their sacrifices.

Every Memorial Day thousands of people gather at Ala Moana

Beach Park for the Lantern Floating Ceremony led by Her Holiness Keishu Shinso, the spiritual head of Shinnyo-en. The ceremony remembers those who gave their lives in conflict, allows for reflection on the memories of loved ones and dedicates prayers for a peaceful and harmonious future. Just as the waters of the Pacific merge with each ocean, the wish for peace and happiness extends from Hawaii across the globe. Lantern Floating Hawaii is a unique event that brings to-gether people from all cultures, nations, and faiths. It is one way

that we can express our gratitude for the past while looking towards a brighter future. We hope that you will come and share in the experience of this occasion. The Lantern Floating Ceremony

will take place on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 6.30 p.m. Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park

WELCOME HOME PREP:

If you or anyone you know, are interested in supporting your com-pany and/ or Soldier through contri-butions or by volunteering to help decorate the barracks and the unit area, please contact your FRG Leader. As we begin to prepare for homecoming, please don’t forget about supporting the single Sol-
