Chapter Director’s Article Continued from Page 1

If anyone has any ideas of a good place to ride please feel free to express your ideas.

We find ourselves in a rather strange dilemma as most of our members no longer have bikes or are in good health

enough to ride. I know that not being able to ride is not a good feeling as I have experienced this for myself. Rest assured

that you don't have to quit or not participate in Chapter E as you can tag along in your vehicle or provide moral support by

attending meetings, membership drives or suggest places, events and more for the Chapter. We need your knowledge

and suggestions. Help get others especially they youngsters who only want to ride in town to join in our fun. Remember

you are part of our family and we need and appreciate you.

GroupWorks

GroupWorks is a new communication system being shared by all GWRRA members. We are talking nationwide.

Chapters as well as districts will have calendars. You, the member will be able to keep up with what is going on in not

just your area but throughout the entire state. Chapters will be able to email other chapters will very little effort. Districts

will be able to send out messages to not just their district members but to other district as well. Most chapters are aware

of how this system works, but it will take 90 or so days to get it going.

Wing Ding 2019 and the Louisiana District Ride to Wing Ding

Wing Ding is being held in Nashville TN August 27-31. The Louisiana District is planning a pre-trip in the Wing Ding area

August 25-27. More details in the upcoming months.

There is a lot of stuff going on , you just have to participate. Thanks a lot, ride safe and have fun.

Hello Louisiana Here it is March and all of the final details for the rally are coming together. Your Louisiana

Team is working very hard to make this another great rally.

The rally schedule and current vendor list are on our website on the rally page. One of the things that has sparked a lot of interest is the Thursday steak night. The hotel will cook to

order 8oz or 12oz steaks for a $1 an ounce. This will be available from 4 till 8pm.

There will be plenty of things to do for the whole rally including live gators, COY competition, a 3 day pin swap table, shirt competition and our world famous Mardi Gras Madness Ball Friday

night.

Friday will also have two firsts. At 12:30 we will have a cooking demonstration by Pam Jastram called “Cooking with Pam”. You don‛t want to miss that. The 2nd first will be at 2pm and will be a

cookie bar competition put together by Johnette Beter. (There is no shortage of judges for this one.)

Saturday afternoon will be the Louisiana Chapter Challenge in the Atrium. This year it will be “Chapter Feud” (our take on Family Feud). You don‛t want to miss that. Let‛s not forget about

the two $500 Grand Prizes that will be given away at Closing Ceremonies.

Last but not least, starting Sunday morning after the rally is our 3 day Cajun Guided tour. This tour is a bunch of back roads through Louisiana and a day ride into New Orleans for poor boy

sandwiches and beignets.

Please join us for all of this fun and some great riding after the rally.

Assistant LA District Educators

Becky and Mike Stevenson

Take a Motorcycle

Riding Course

Whether you are thinking of taking a GWRRA Rider Ed class, an MSF class or any other training concerning riding your motorcycle, just take the class. Train-ing beats ignorance every time. Even though you may be a rider with 30 years of riding or just getting the wind in your face, it pays to take formal training and here is why:

When you go to a training such as an ARC or Trike class, you get the benefit of an instructor who has plenty of experience in training folks. They will make you think about the mechanics of your machine and how you interact with it, and how you should react to different situations on the road. You will review techniques on slow speed maneuvering and things called the friction zone!!! All this will take place in a controlled environment and the instructor/instructors are there to keep a close eye on you during every exercise. You will be able to practice these exercises until you are comfortable with executing them.

Classroom seminars in GWRRA cover a lot of different subjects related to rid-ing, be it night riding, co rider duties, helmet myths and many others. All these trainings help you the rider and passenger be safer on the road and will help you make those good decisions when you are confronted with having to make them.

GWRRA Rider courses can be offered at conventions or for your chapter (as are chosen seminars). The seminars can be done at chapter meetings with the option to spread it out over a few meetings.

Please let your District Educators know what rider courses or seminars you may want to have presented!
