    Complete Transmitter EG 20-DU

The CTE-DB Elit GOLD SERIES is a new generation of Highpower TV transmitters based on LDMOS Technology. These air-cooled transmitters are suitable for analog anddigital TV.The transmitters consist of the following components:

ED SERIES Exciter Power amplifier with cooling system V10 SERIES Power supply and distribution Power combiner and output filter Transmitter rack with cooling system Control logic unit ALU SERIES

The UHF transmitters are available for analog TV withpowers of 2,5 KW to 20 kW (combined) and for digital TV

with powers of 650 W to 5 KW.

The power amplifiers come as plug-in module with a powerof 2500 W for analog TV or 650 W for digital TV.

This means high flexibility regarding output power andredundancy. Each amplifier module has its two power supplies. The Power amplifier is extremely compact which permits theintegration of many configurations:

1+1 complete redundancy of the transmitter (Passivestandby)

4 Programs independent combine (using 4 drivers) 4 independent and combined programs

Moreover, the GOLD SERIES Transmitter offers a variety ofoptions for remote control such as parallel interface, SNMPinterface or the linkup via an integrated Web server.

    ED SERIES Exciter

The newly developed exciters are designed to convert a Transport Stream (MPEG-2) into a Coded Orthogonal Frequency DivisionMultiplex (COFDM). The generation and trasmission of COFDM signals at 2k ,4k or 8k is possible with QPSK, 16QAM or 64QAMmodulation with payloads from 3,73 to 31 .67 Mbit/s. Thanks to an internal 32-bit process, the innovative software allows theelaboration of a zero error signal. The integrated SFN interface allows operations in precision offset conditions with frequency lockonto the GPS reference signal and compensation of the network delay. The unit includes a standard hierarchial capability and it isequipped with four ASI inputs in Dual ASI both for uniform modulation and hierarchial modulation. The ease of use, the sturdiness of the modular construction and the high performance capability of these digital trasmitters open upnew prospects for the realization of DVB-T/H networks of SFN and MFN application.

    V10 SERIES Power Amplifiers

Thanks to the advanced LDMOS technology, the poweramplifiers are characterized by high linearity, high efficiencyand compact design. Through the innovative and unique 5

ways /4 90 broadband combiner, each amplifier plug-incontains 10 supermodules that are combined to obtain the

V10 (vertical 10) brick. This solution provides a +20% ofRF output power in comparison to competitors ( 650WrmsDVB-T, real 530Wrms after filter with 37 dB MER).The V10 brick features a phase adjustment to compensateany unbalancing, a superfast overdrive and VSWRprotection circuitry and a plug-in blower module to increaseoperation stability. The vertical solution allows all the finalstages to work in a parallel way at the same conditions(same heatsink temperature).

V10 brick is equipped with two external power suppliesgranting a real DC active reserve. V10 brick is combined

with another V10 brick to obtain the V20 configuration witha rated output power of 1.3 kWrms DVB-T or 5kW analogTV in a standard 19 cabinet 1000 mm depth.Four bricks V10 are combined to obtain the V40 configu-ration with a rated output power of 2.3 kWrms DVB-T or10kW analog TV in 19 cabinet 1600 mm depth or two 191000 mm depth coupled side by side

The supermodule concept is an innovative and unique solution based on a 5-way broadband combiners. Supermodule conceptmeans that each final stage is equipped with its own driver to achieve a full RF active redundancy. Each module also features anoverdrive protection circuitry to increase reliability.

    Transmitter rack configuration

The design of the rack frame is very suitable for easy main-tenance and service: each unit can be easily removed andchecked; all the internal cables are allocated in the properraceways. Moreover, every sub unit of the transmitter is monitoredcontinuously, in real time, through the suitable sensor anddisplay.

A logic unit is connected to the amplifier modules, the exciterand the various meters via a RS 485 bus, in such a way thatall the transmitter functions are kept under control. The main distribution unit feeds the above power supplies

    with the necessary voltage.

The design of the rack allows several configurations like the total passive reserve or several programs combined in one equipment:

The design of the rack allows the building up of the HIGH POWER Transmitter 2,5 KW rms ( 10 KW ps.) and the 5 KW rms ( 20KW ps) according to the space available on the site. The transmitter EG 40-DU could be developed in length or depth as in the following diagram.
