Foreword
1. Academic year 2017-18 is a milestone in the annual of GRIET, we completed twenty academic
years since its inception in 1997. In two decades, the institute has been witnessing steady and
consistent growth both in terms of quantity and quality, adhering to its mission “To achieve and
impart quality education with an emphasis on practical skills and social relevance”. The institute has
modestly began with an intake of 180 and 4 UG programmes rose to a level after 20 years where in
it offers 6 UG programmes and 9 PG Programess with an intake of 1446. Accreditations from
NAAC, NBA for all 15 programms and rankings amongst the top bracket of state by all premier
ranking agencies indicate the efforts of GRIET in establishing quality teaching learning
environment Academic year 2017-18 interests consisted of thrust on outcome based education and
introduction of ICT in all learning areas. It is proud moment for at GRIET as we ranked in the band
of 150-200 by NIRF in year 2017-18 for the 2nd time in a row.
Introduction
2. We pay our homage to our guiding soul Late Sri Gokaraju Rangaraju garu, a distinguished
crusader in the field of education in West Godavari of Andhra Pradesh on whose name GRIET is
established in 1997 by his illustrious son Dr Gokaraju Ganga Raju garu. Since inception GRIET
steadily progressed to become one of the most preferred college in Telangana and AP states.

Academics
5. GRIET conducted all the PG courses as per GR17 Regulations of GRIET (Autonomous),
whereas the I B Tech is as per GR17 regulations, II & III B Tech are as per GR15 regulations
and IV B Tech as per GR14 regulations. The examination system is fully and efficiently
managed by DOE, his team of ACEs and support staff. We are proud that the Academic
Monitoring Software GSTATS is fully developed and maintained by the GRIET Staff.

6. Dean Academic Affairs through the departments ensured satisfactory coverage of syllabus,
Programme Coordinators, Class Coordinators, and faculty members ensured that attendance
levels are high.
Result
7. The GRIET results of academic year 2017-18 are quite encouraging with more than 78 %
passed in I attempt and more than 76 % got I class and above.

Scholarships and Incentives
11. All eligible candidates under categories of S.C., S.T. and B.C. are being sanctioned
scholarships by Social Welfare department of Govt. of Telangana. Scholarship amount is being
paid to the students through Cheques promptly. The verification procedure involving Aadhar cards
and biometric is successfully implemented. Faculty, whose services resulted in academic excellence
interms of 100% passes or 100% marks for students in any subject are honoured with certificate
along with the respective meritorious students also.

Anti-Ragging Measures
16. We have taken all precautions to curb the menace of ragging through our three pronged system
of awareness, avoidance and acting with stern measures. There are no severe crimes so far after the
establishment of this College. In this connection, all the teaching and non-teaching staff under the
guidance of Dean of Discipline deserve appreciations for their relentless efforts and maintaining a
constant vigil.

ACCREDITATION (Awards and Achievements)
18. We are proud that 6 of our B Tech branches of EEE, ME, ECE, CSE, IT are accredited by the
National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi in 2006, 2009, 2014 and again in 2017, B Tech
(CE) & M Tech (DFM, PE) in 2016, M Tech (VLSI, TE, CSE, PS, ES, SE, Strcu Engg) are
accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi in 2018. The above five
programs received provisional accreditation for 3 years under Tier I, w.e.f from 01 July 2017.
19. NAAC had inspected and granted us accreditation with A grade for a period of five years on
08 Jul 2013.
20. We have been granted Autonomous status by JNTU Hyderabad from 2011-12 to 2013-14 and
by UGC from 2014-15 to 2019-20. Autonomous status gives us the academic freedom and
vindicates our strengths to develop best practices and follow them with conviction. Our
academic regulations called GR11 implemented in 2011 and GR14 implemented in 2014-15

gave us enough experience and confidence and to get ready for GR17 regulations introduced
with effect from 2017-18. Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was introduced from 2015-16
academic year with GR15 regulations. Now GR18 according to AICTE model curriculum.
21. We have received rolling shield from TS Governor on 14 Jun 2018 for highest number of
blood donors in Educational Institutional category. This is the tenth time GRIET received this
award.
22. We are proud that Gokaraju Rangaraju Educational Society (GRES) is recognized as Scientific
and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by DSIR for a period of two years from 2015 and
renewed again in 2017 for a period of three years.

proposals 1200 are selected, which includes two of our teams. They are divided into zones,
at K L University out of 44 teams competing our all girls team won the 4th Prize, carrying
cash prize of 10,000/-. This year group of students participants in Smart India Hackathon
2018. All I, II, III prizes won by GRIET students in JNTUH J – HUB Hackathon held in
Feb 2018. Professor A Venu Gopal Reddy, Vice Chancellor inaugurated J-Labs at GRIET
in association with J-Hub. GRIET hosted final round of event of Smart City Hackthon with
TASK (Telangana Academy for Skills and Knowledge) during 01-02 Apr 2018. Sri Jayesh
Ranjan, IAS, IT secretory presented the prizes to the winners.

29. We have channelized our R&D and consultancy efforts through, Dr Swadesh Kumar Singh,
Dean R & D ably supported by faculty as well as student members from each department.
Currently we have research projects from DST-SERB worth 42.81 lacs, BRNS worth 37.953

31. We have signed MOUs this year with foreign Universities i.e The University of JAEN (Spain),
Samara National Research University (Russia) and The Center on Conflict and Development,
Texas A & M University USA and with NRSC (ISRO) for Technical Collaboration for taking
up joint Research, Development Activities, and BIM & GRAFX Integrated Studio Private
Limited (BIMgraFX) an Autodesk Channel Partner to develop educational programs, Bharatiya
Yuva Shakti Trust, Hyderabad Cluster, TCS ONLINE EXAMS, Red Hat and Studenting Era.
Academic agreements with Oracle Academy, Cisco Academy and MTA resulted in large no of
students acquiring certificates like CCNA, OCA, OCJA, MTA. We have initiated Labview
Academy with NI systems and Business Analysis lab with IBM. MOU with Analogics Tech
India is facilitating internship opportunities to students and industry interface to faculty.
32. MSME (Micro Small Medium Enterprise) has recognized GRIET as an incubation center and
approved eight innovative projects worth 52 lakhs for GRIET. Students from ECE, IT, CSE
have registered their companies as campus startups under Udyog Aadhar.
33. We closely work with TCS, Qualcomm, Cyient, CSC in skill Development for Faculty and
students, Student Internships, Student Project Awards and Spoken Tutorial (ST), IIT Bombay,
to offer the Spoken Tutorial based software training.
34. Our Entrepreneurship Development Cell is striving hard to imbibe this quality amongst our
students. GRIET is a member of TEP initiative by ISB, through which our students are being
imparted entrepreneurship seeding from second year of their studies.
35. So far our staff produced 1418 Papers & 24 books. Our staff published good number of papers
in highly reputed journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science total 73 Web of Science
indexed publications with 191 citations and 109 Scopus Indexed publications with 321 citations

Haritha Haram a plantation Drive in coordination with CII planted approximately 1000
saplings and received an award from His Excellency Governor of Telangana ESL.
Narasimhan. Supporting orphanages, Intellectually Challenged homes like Ashray Akruti &
NIRMAN, waste paper recycling and disposal to ITC by protecting fully grown trees, self-
defense activities, Road safety. We have received rolling shield from His Excellency Governor
of AP & Telangana Shri ESL Narasimhan on 14 June 2018 for highest number of blood donors
in Educational Institutes category. This is the Tenth time we are receiving this award since
2008.
Street cause wing of GRIET received an outstanding division Award 2017-18 among 42 divisions.
Student Association
Our IEEE student branch, which is very active, has been conducting many events for the past 10
years. It brought laurels to the college by winning "Exemplary Student Branch Award" at Region
10 level and "Vibrant Student Branch Award" twice at IEEE Hyderabad Section level. Also won
"Outstanding WIE Student Branch Award" at IEEE global level. Our faculty adviser
Dr.Y.Vijayalata is a recipient the "2017 IEEE Women in Engineering Inspiring Member of the
Year Award" for outstanding contribution and services to IEEE Women in Engineering, global
IEEE.
The GRSS Student Grand Challenge proposal by the students of ECE and IT entitled “Development
of a surveillance system for forest fire detection and monitoring using drones” has been accepted
for funding of 6000$ USD Congratulations to the team members and the mentors.
Our final year EEE student project “Speed Control of Electric Train Using Arduino” got ISTE
National award sponsored by NIT, Kozhikode.
Student branches of ISTE, IEEE, IETE, ICI, CSI, SME, SAE and IE have conducted activities to
further the knowledge. Our SAE students successfully participated in BAJA SAE INDIA from 16th
to 23rd Feb 2016 and also from 15th to 21st Feb 2017 at Indore a design competition for one all-

terrain vehicle and brought laurel by winning 3rd Prize in overall and also design presentation
categories in a national level competition "SAEINDIA AERO DESIGN" in March 2016 and also
last year from 08 to 10 June 2017.
Received appreciation for design of an unmanned Terrian Vehicle to replace soldiers at the Border
for security & surveillance at Smart India Hackathan Grand Finale conducted at College of
Engineering Pune on 18-22 Jun 2018.
Support Facilities
37. The following facilities are available to ensure the environment is conductive to learn and
develop.
(a) Library
At present we have 1,19,019 volumes with 15,508 titles to cater to the needs of students and
staff. There are 285 Journals which include 35 Foreign Journals. The college subscribes to
e-resources for use of staff and students. The library is networked and automated purely by the
efforts of our staff in terms of bar-coding and software. An act to show our resolve on self
reliance.
(b) Networking: More than 2000 computers in college through LAN and fibre back bone with 155
Mbps internet facilities, WiFi in selected corridors
(c ) Canteen: Good canteen to provide meals, Break fast, hot snacks is in position along with stalls
to serve coffee and beverages and bakery items and fruit juices at reasonable rates. A free meals
scheme namely Annapurna Nitya Prasadam Scheme was initiated by GRIET from the year 2012, to
promote concept of giving back to society amongst students. This scheme provides free lunch for
faculty and students and is successfully running with the contribution of staff and donors.
(d) Transport: The college is situated 4 kms from JNTUH, Kukatpally. Public Transport is
conveniently available through APSRTC bus service up to Kukatpally and through MMTS up to
Hi-tech City. Hence we are running our own buses to transport the students from Kukatpally,
MMTs (Hi-Tech City), Miyapur and back at a nominal charge. There are eight route buses for I, II

and III years from LB Nagar, ECIL, Mehidipatnam, Uppal, Jeedimetla, SR Nagar, Kondapur and
Lingampally. Teaching and other Staff are transported free of cost from Kukatpally, Miyapur and
back.
(e) Medical & First Aid Centre: All medical needs are quickly and efficiently attended by well
qualified Dr P Viswanath Raju along with a medical assistant Mr K Srinivasa Rao is available in
college medical centre.
(f) Water: In spite of the hilly terrain and critical scenario in Hyderabad drinking and utility
requirement of water was successfully met.
(g) Power: 113 kW solar plant supplements the college as well as national grid power
requirements. Our 113 kilowatt solar power plant annual generation is 1,59,785 units that is
equivalent to planting 703 mature trees and reduction in 140 Tons of CO2 emission. Another 300
kW solar plant worth 100 lakhs is under process. In addition the college has two generators of 250
kVA and 160 kVA capacity.
(h) Bank OBC branch along with ATM services s situated within college premises.
(i) Stationery Store: All types of stationery and photocopying needs of academic environment are
met with by the store situated in Block I ground floor.
Community Information
38. We have lost the lives of our current student Ms G Aparna of ECE to tragic incident in this
year. May their soul rest in peace. We share the grief of her near and dear.
39. GRIET runs a Community Radio Station “PRAGNYA 90.4 FM” from 20 Jan 2016. We not
only broadcast programmes that cater to the interests of students but also to the local community.
Our programmes can be listened both on FM Radio and on live-streaming, through our website and
APP. Our PRAGNYA Radio received appreciation and recognition from Government of India, for
participating in Community Radio Challenge, conducted by UNICEF and CEMCA
(Commonwealth Education Media Centre for Asia).

Final Word
40. All in all 2017-18 has been a fruitful year, despite all odds. We are committed to our Mission
