Allan Hatch doesn’t mind making changes when the time is right. He’s been a butcher, a landscaper and a pineapple farmer before turning to turf. For the last 24 years he’s been a turf grower and for 15 of those years he’s used Kioti tractors because when something’s that good, it pays to stick with it.

Allan is the owner of Greenfield Turf, harvesting approximately 400,000 metres of turf a year. With his son Benjamin and seven employees, he grows Wintergreen Couch and Prestige Buffalo turf on 140 acres at two sites not far from Brisbane.

Allan said he bought his first Kioti tractor 15 or so years ago from Robert Wruck at a local Kioti dealer. It was a Kioti Daedong ROPS tractor.

“It was a good, simple 90hp tractor. You could put anyone on it and they couldn’t break it. I already knew about the reputation these tractors had.”

Now he has four of the Kioti PX series all bought from local dealers TMI in Nambour. Three of them are the 100hp PX1002 model, four years old. A year ago he also bought the newer model PX1052. He got all four tractors with front-end loaders.Alan said they use the Kioti PX tractors mostly with the 6-metre and 3-metre mowers, but also with rotary hoes, power harrows, boom sprayer and fertiliser spreader.

“They’re comfortable, they’ve got good ergonomics, and they’re very good with loader work. Their lifting capacity is really good. It’s no problem at all for them to get a one-tonne bag of fertiliser into the spreader or load a truck with pallets.

“We’ve got other tractors but the Kioti tractors get used all day, every day, and the others don’t. They’re very versatile with a good solid build. We get a lot done with them and their performance is far better than other tractors I’ve used.”

“I bought the Kioti CK3010 in late 2016 and I’m very glad I did. I’ve recommended Kioti to others because it’s been a model of reliability for us.

Before buying, I researched other brands thoroughly, looking at pricing and how strong the build was. The Kioti has a good solid build and gave the best value for money in its range. And compared with others, the hydraulic capacity at the remotes is very good.

Here at the nursery, we use it mainly for loading soil and moving the plants around. It tows three trailers, each holding 400 plants. It has a good, sensible design.

“We chose Kioti because other growers use and recommend them. We got our DK5310 with a 4in1 loader and pallet forks just in time for the harvest. It was very good value for money. We use it to pick up and move the filled bins in the orchard.

The PX1052 does all the general farm work for us: mowing, mower conditioning, baling, raking, seeding and power harrowing.

It’s good to sit in. Eight hours is no problem at all, and the new one’s got a tint on the windows, which I really appreciate. The engine and transmission are both great – it’s all good.

Meet Tom from Geelong“We bought a Kioti Mechron 2200 UTV four years ago after replacing too many four-wheel motorbikes. It’s still going strong, mainly sheep mustering in fairly tough country.

Later we added a Mechron 2230 with extended wheelbase and another 2200 model. Diesel, water-cooled and very robust, they run all day. They’ve got a real go-anywhere feel to them. And it’s good to know everyone’s much safer with the heavy-duty rollover protection and seatbelts.

It’s really handy to get three people quickly and safely to a job in one go. The hydraulic tilt trays are perfect for moving gear and materials and tipping rocks. And on crop inspections, Mechron’s just seem to sneak through doing no damage.

With four-wheel motorbikes, you’ve always got the worry of accidents and overheating. Mechron UTVs are just so much safer, more useful and more reliable.”
