Goffstown Fish and Game Newsletter
August 2020 Issue

The club will be holding monthly meetings while
weather is still good.
The August Meeting is on the 25th at 7pm. (Weather
Permitting of Course)
Firearm Raffle
GFG is going to have a one-time gun raffle. These are firearms that
the club has acquired over the years to assist with the many classes
and programs ran at the club. The club would like to purchase some
newer guns for those classes. The sale of duplicate firearms will
allow the club to purchase new firearms without having to allocate
funds from the budget.
The raffle is simple. There will be a bucket in front of every gun.
Simply put your name in the buckets of the gun you want. Your
name can only be entered once per gun. Members can win multiple
guns. If your name is pulled from a bucket you must pay for the gun
that night. The club will accept cash or check payments only. The
firearm transfer will be done at Jay’s Gun Shop shortly thereafter.
The guns being raffled are
3 – Single Six Ruger
3 – Ruger 22/45 Pistols
3 – Remington 870 12 Gauge Shotguns
1 – H&R 20 Gauge Shotgun
All guns have been properly cared for and are in great shape. You
will not find a better price on these well-maintained firearms.
GFG would like to take the opportunity to finally
welcome the new applicants into the club. At the
June meeting the 17 new applicants were voted
into the club.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Goffstown Fish and Game Board of Directors with a heavy heart
have decided to suspend the Annual Turkey Shoot and Annual
Spaghetti Dinner.
The decision was not an easy one. The Board of Directors took into
consideration the current status of the COVID situation, the recent
low attendance to events, shortage of ammunition, general safety of
members and guests, and the impact to the comradery typically
seen at the events. This is not the end of the events; they are just
suspended for now. Stay tuned for updates on all events that are
typically scheduled as they will be addressed on individually.
Past Club Events
The Archery League Wrapped up in the middle of June. The raffle
drawing date was extended to allow the Archery League to sell more
tickets. A Huge thank you to Morse Sporting Goods Store for
assisting with the prizes for the raffle. The Archery League would
also like to give a huge thanks you and round of applause to
gentlemen from Granite State Plumbing and Heating (Walt, Todd,
John) for going above and beyond in selling the Archery League
Raffle Tickets. Because of their efforts the League was able to raise
two thousand dollars for the club.
The Winners of the Raffle are:
1st Place Prize: Mark Bluteau
2nd Place Prize: Marc Byer
3rd Place Prize: John Renaud
The “I Fried My Butt Off” Shoot is happened on August 9th.
There was a small turnout, but the shooters had a great day.
GFG would like to thank all the participants who attended.
Club Rules Reminder
To all members visiting the club, please remember that you need to have your GFG Club Ids on you. If a member does not recognize you and asks for identification, you need to present said id. With the amount of foot traffic along the
road these days (COVID wonders) it is even more important to be able to identify yourself.
Previous Meeting Notes:
At the June Meeting the membership took care of two especially important items. The first item was to address the new member
applicants. The had been given probational membership during the COVID crisis. The club voted all 17 new applicant in. If you are at the club and see new members, please say hi and welcome them.
Secondly the membership approved the 2020 budget. The club had been operating with only essential items being paid for. With the
budget approved the club can continue to operate without
restrictions. Thank you for all the members that came to the June meeting.
The July meeting did not have enough members to meet the needed quorum. A quick informal meeting was held. The club will be
moving forward with the Hunters Education classes. This year due to COVID the club will only be running the field day classes and testing. All Hunter Education classes are online with field days.
When using the target frames, please one target per frame. The frames themselves have been getting destroyed quickly. The Club is requesting one target per frame to help prevent the structure of the
frame from being shot.
When using the walking pistol course, please paint the steel after shooting. It is in the rules for using the pistol course. The paint will help keep the steel in good condition and painting the target also
preps them for the next shooters.
The club will be having a gun raffle/sale at the next monthly meeting (August 25th). Each gun will have a bucket associated to it. Throw
you name into the bucket. If your name is pulled you must pay for it that night. Firearm transfer will be done the following day at local
shop. More details will be sent out before the meeting.
