SDA CHURCH RAISED UP TO PREACH THE 3 A’S MESSAGES

“In a special sense Seventh-day Adventists have been set in the world as watchmen and

light bearers. To them has been

entrusted the last warning for a perishing world.”

Testimonies, Vol.9, 19.

SDA CHURCH RAISED UP TO PREACH THE 3 A’S MESSAGES

“They have been given a work of the most solemn import—the

proclamation of the first, second, and third angels' messages.

There is no other work of so great importance.

They are to allow nothing else to absorb their attention.”

Testimonies, Vol.9, 19.

STAY ON THE FIRM PLATFORM

“I saw a company who stood well guarded and firm, giving no countenance to those

who would unsettle the established faith of the body.

God looked upon them with approbation.”

Early Writings, 258,259.

A STRUCTURE OF TRUTH!

I was shown three steps—the first, second, and third angels' messages.

Said my accompanying angel, “Woe to him who shall move a block or

stir a pin of these messages. The true understanding of these messages is

of vital importance. The destiny of souls hangs upon the manner in which they are

received.” Early Writings, 258,259.

Early Writings, 145

But when God said to His Son,

“Let us make man in our image,”

Satan was jealous of Jesus.

Ephesians 3:9

And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God,

who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Page 12: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Acts 4:24

And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said,

Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven,

and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

Hebrews 1:1,2:

God, …Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He [God the Father] made the worlds;

Statement of Beliefs—1872

That there is one God, a personal, spiritual Being,

the Creator of all things, omnipotent, omniscient, and eternal, infinite in wisdom, holiness, justice,

goodness, truth, and mercy, unchangeable, and

everywhere present by His representative, the Holy Spirit.

Page 18: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

the Son of the Eternal Father, the One by whom

Worship God—Desire of Ages, 21We behold God in Jesus.

Looking unto Jesus we see that it is the glory of our God to give.

“I do nothing of Myself,” said Christ; “the living Father hath sent Me,

and I live by the Father.” “I seek not Mine own glory,”

but the glory of Him that sent Me. John 8:28; 6:57; 8:50; 7:18.

Page 20: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Worship God—Desire of Ages, 21

In these words is set forth the great principle which is the law of life for the universe.

All things Christ received from God,

but He took to give.

Page 21: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Worship God—Desire of Ages, 21

So in the heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings:

through the beloved Son, the Father's life flows out to all;

through the Son it returns, in praise and joyous service,

a tide of love, to the great Source of all.

Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church, 75

As a personal being, God has revealed Himself in His Son. Jesus, the outshining of the

Father’s glory, “and the express image of His person” Hebrews 1:3,

was on earth found in fashion as a man.

Page 24: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church, 75As a personal Saviour

He came to the world. As a personal Saviour He ascended on high.

As a personal Saviour He intercedes in the heavenly courts.

Before the throne of God in our behalf ministers “One like unto the Son of man.”

Revelation 1:13.

Page 25: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church, 75Christ, the Light of the world, veiled

the dazzling splendor of His divinity and came to live as a man among men,

that they might, without being consumed, become acquainted

with their Creator. No man has seen God at any time

except as He is revealed through Christ.

Page 26: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church, 75Christ came to teach human beings

what God desires them to know. In the heavens above, in the earth, in the broad waters of the ocean,

we see the handiwork of God. All created things testify to His power, His wisdom, His love.

Page 27: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church, 75But not from the stars or the ocean

or the cataract can we learn of the personality of God as it is revealed in Christ.

God saw that a clearer revelation than nature was needed to portray

both His personality and His character.

Page 28: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Worship the Creator—Counsels to the Church, 75

He sent His Son into the world to reveal,

so far as could be endured by human sight,

the nature and the attributes of the invisible God.

there is a personal Christ, the Son.

What if God the Father came to Earth?

But one thing is impossible with God—the power of eclipsing the

greatness of His gift, in showing His love for fallen man than He has given

in Jesus.

Page 33: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

What if God the Father came to Earth?

In this wonderful expression of His love He has given to man fallen, and to all the unfallen worlds, and to the universe of heaven clear evidence that there is no love but His love.

{21MR 392.4}

Page 34: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

What if God the Father came to Earth?

The Lord has paid this infinite price in giving His only begotten Son

that through belief in Jesus Christ

is belief in God,

and that the righteous laws, the ten precepts of His decalogue, may appear to the world, even to as many as will believe on Jesus Christ, as His just requirements

and are ever to be maintained. 21MR 392.5

Page 35: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

What if God the Father came to Earth?

Had God the Father come to our world and dwelt among us,

veiling His glory and humbling Himself,

that humanity might look upon Him, the history that we have of the life of Christ would not have been changed

in unfolding its record of His own condescending grace.

Page 36: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

What if God the Father came to Earth?

In every act of Jesus, in every lesson of His instruction,

we are to see and hear and recognize God.

In sight, in hearing, in effect, it is the voice and movements

of the Father. Letter 83, 1895. 21MR 393.1

Page 37: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

RH, May 4, 1876 par. 64

Is not the gift of Christ a pledge of the Father's love for sinners? I would say unto

you who have come forward here,

The Father loves you.

In the popular churches, we hear but little except, "Do you love Jesus?" The

love of the Father is scarcely mentioned; it is only Christ, Christ.

God the Father has given unto man the greatest gift that Heaven held.

Christ Incarnate

The more we think about Christ's becoming a babe here on earth, the more wonderful it appears. How can it be that the helpless babe in Bethlehem's manger

is still the divine Son of God? Though we cannot understand it, we can

believe that He who made the worlds, for our sakes became a helpless babe.

Page 79: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Christ Incarnate

Though higher than any of the angels, though as great as the

Father on the throne of heaven, He became one with us.

In Him God and man became one, and it is in this fact that we find the hope of our fallen race.

Christ IncarnateThrough Jesus, the Son of God, the Father is more fully revealed to the

world. Jesus said to his disciples: "If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also; and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip

saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Page 82: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Christ IncarnateJesus saith unto him, Have I been so long

The souls of thousands are crying out today, “Show us the Father, and we will be satisfied. We cannot claim God as our

Father until we see him.”

Page 83: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Christ IncarnateJesus says to every such soul, as he said

to Philip: “‘Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me?’

Have you seen my works, have you listened to my teachings, have you witnessed the miracles that I have

wrought in my Father’s name, and yet have you not understood

the nature of God?

I am the express image of his person.

Here we find mention of all three, just as Christ commanded:

(1) Jesus Christ -for the remission of sins.(Matthew 26:28; Acts 10:43; Rom. 3:25).

(2) Holy Ghost - the bearer of "the gift."(1 Cor. 12: 4,5,9,10,11,28,29,30; Gal. 5:22,23.)

Pope John Paul II—“Ut Unim Sint”:“This is the hope of Christian unity,

It seemed that divinity flashed through humanity as Jesus said, "I and my Father are one." The words of Christ were full

Signs of the Times, Nov. 27, 1893

The Majesty of heaven stood, calmly assured, as a god before his adversaries.

Their scowling faces, their hands filled with stones, did not intimidate him. He knew that unseen forces, legions of angels, were round about him, and at one word from his lips they would strike with dismay the throng, should

they offer to cast upon him a single stone. He stood before them undaunted.

Page 285: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

Signs of the Times, Nov. 27, 1893

Why did not the stones fly to the mark?--It was because divinity flashed through

humanity, and they received a revelation, and were convicted that his were no common

claims. Their hands relax and the stones fall to the ground. His words had asserted his

divinity, but now his personal presence, the light of his eye, the majesty of his attitude,

bore witness to the fact that he was the beloved Son of God.

death upon the cross of Calvary. God provides his love, which draws us to

him, and by which he sent his only begotten Son to die for us (John 3:16).

Christ and the Father in our lives, just as Jesus promised in John 17.

ISAIAH 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Page 293: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting Father

In seeking an explanation of this text, we must bear in mind the work of Christ as brought to view in this and parallel passages. These words refer to the "child born," the "son given," who, as we have seen, bears the title of God subordinate to his Father.

Page 294: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting Father

And if an apostle could call himself the father of those whom he had begotten in the gospel (1 Cor. 4:15; 1 Tim. 1:2; Titus 1:4), how appropriately is this title applied to the Prince of Peace, who is, in a peculiar sense, the everlasting Father of all to whom he gives everlasting life.

Page 295: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting Father

The New Jerusalem is called the Bride, the Lamb's wife (Rev. 21); Christ of course is the Bridegroom, the husband. But Paul says Jerusalem above is our mother. Gal. 4:26. If so, why not her husband, the bridegroom, be our father? Surely there is nothing inappropriate in this.

Page 296: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting Father

But, as the New Jerusalem is not the mother of the unregenerate, these being reckoned the children of the bondwoman, so Christ is not called their father. They are not his children, and he does not give them everlasting life.

Page 297: Godhead 3 - The Doctrine of Trinity

ISAIAH 9:6—The Everlasting Father

Therefore the title is applied to him in a subordinate and restricted sense. In its unrestricted and universal sense it applies only to the Supreme One, "the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Cor. 11:31; Eph. 1:3; 1 Peter 1:3. 1884 JH Waggoner, Atonement, p.169
