Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome!

Thanks for joining the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate out Eucharistic Liturgy for the Second Sunday of Advent. You

bless all who gather through your presence and prayerful participation. May this sacred time in prayer lift your spirit and renew your faith. Advent is a season of prayerful preparation for remembering the Birth of Christ and rejoicing, once again, that our Savior has come. Pay attention to today’s Letter of Paul to the Philippians. His letter is really a prayer for his brothers and sisters in the Church of Thessalonica and the Church of Sacred Heart. Paul remembers us in prayer always. Paul is joyful that we share a partnership in living and sharing the Gospel. Paul desires that Christ “who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Paul’s affection for us mirrors the love of Christ. This is Paul’s prayer for us: “That your love may increase ever

more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of

Christ.” Part of the Advent journey is to “discern what is of value.” We tend to get caught up with the “things” of the holiday, rather than the spirit of the Holy Day. We live in a secular society where the market place promotes some merchandise as things we can’t live without. Some think the cost of a gift is a measure of one’s love. Would that Advent be a time to discern what is of value. Do we value our relationships, especially within our family? Valuing our family, our relationship, can be

expressed through the gift of time. The gift of time enriches our bonds with one another and says more than any neatly wrapped package. The gift of time in being there for one another speaks to the value we place on our relationships. Be well! God bless,

Fr. McKee P.S. Don’t forget!♦ Baby’s 1st Christmas next weekend. ♦ Christmas Concert next Sunday!
