What to Wear in Goa

The Goans are a bunch of happy-go-lucky people and their chilled-out attitude is reflected inthe clothes they wear. Goa is the perennial party zone and regarding clothes casual wear isthe order of the day. As such if one is embarking on a detour to Goa, efforts should be madeblend oneself with the Goan life by wearing clothes that embody the carefree Goan spirit.

You don't need to fret over what to wear in Goa since the dressing style draws heavily on highstreet fashion characterized by bold and bright floral prints. Moreover as Goa is endowed witha balmy weather the need for specific clothing is done away with. The clothes to wear duringthe summer are cotton apparels

Cosmetics:Get a sunscreen lotion, Face Wash, Fresh Wipes / Tissues. to avoid getting tanned unevenly.Girls please do forget your Make-up kits at home.

Girls : Goa’s the kind of place where you let loose and go crazy with colours and accessories.Forget the heels, the full-length denims and the nylons. The Goa style is basically beach-wear:shorts, jumpsuits, flowy dresses, and of course. Pack clothes that are light cotton, airy andcomfortable to get into. Top them up with long beaded chains, bracelets, and flip-flops. Thecoastal city is notorious for frizzing up hair, so don’t forget to pack serums, hair creams, andmaybe a bandana / Hair Band. Sunglasses are a must. Sleeveless shirts - if decent - can beworn without any problems. It is advisable to carry a light stole, pashmina or scarf with you to cover your head, in case itgets too hot. and some religious places also require you to cover your head, so it may comein handy for that too.

Boys :Shorts Loose cotton shirts or T-shirts and long track pants work well. Sporty / ColouredVESTS are great to beat the summer Slippers / Floaters are great. Forget the Shoes athome. Sunglasses and Caps are a must. Handkerchiefs are a must.

Swimmers:Swimming Costumes are a must for using the Swimming Pool at the Villa.

The jewel in Bambolim’s crown is undisputedly the Shrine of the Holy Cross. The history of thisChurch dates back to 1995 when the foundation stone was laid by Archbishop RaulGonsalves on May 21, 1995, and the Shrine was completed, blessed and inaugurated by theArchbishop on October 13, 1996.Revered by people of all faiths, there is hardly anyone that passes by without acknowledgingits presence and seeking its blessings with a bow of the head, a flying kiss, a sharp loud honkor the sign of the cross. Most stop and pay obeisance to the Holy Cross by offering garlandsof flowers, candles or cash. A shining illustration of Goa’s celebrated communal harmony it is.From being known as Bambolecho Khuris, Milagrincho Khuris and later being Christened asFulancho Khuris, the Holy Cross stands in all simplicity as a beacon of hope and faith.

Baga a seaside town in Bardez, Goa, India. It comes under the jurisdiction of Calangute, which is 2 km south. Baga is known for its popular beach and Baga Creek. It is visited bythousands of tourists annually. Baga Beach is a popular beach and tourist destination in NorthGoa. Baga is located at the north end of the contiguous beach stretch that starts fromSinquerim, Candolim, leads to Calangute and then to Baga.

Dolphins can be located at around 1–2 km from the shoreline. The beach contains rows ofshacks and fishing boats, and at high tide the beach is narrow. The beach is named after theBaga Creek, which empties into the Arabian Sea at the north end of the beach.Baga Beach is also famous for parasailing, water sports (banana ride) and dolphin cruises.

Sunset at Calangute Beach the 'Queen of Beaches'

About nine miles north from the Goan capital, Calangute – the Queen of Beaches - is a highlycommercialized but captivating resort that offers good sunbathing in the quiet solitude of thesea, passable swimming along with great opportunities for feasting on the most deliciousfood along the coast. Calangute is possibly a distorted form of the local vernacular word—‘Koli-gutti', meaning land of fishermen. The beach stretches for about four miles and iscovered with palm trees.

Calangute is a town in North Goa, famous for its beach. The beach is the largest in North Goaand visited by thousands of domestic and international tourists alike. The peak tourist seasonis during Christmas and New Year, and during the summer in May. During the monsoonseason, from June through September, the sea can be rough and swimming is prohibited. The beach offers water sport activities like parasailing and water skiing, among others.Calangute is the beach to which everyone heads for the moment they land in Goa. So it isnatural that it is overcrowded in both in peak and off seasons. This huge seven-kilometresweep of sand located 15 kms from Panaji, is called the 'Queen of Beaches'. All the travelagencies and tour operators have a base here from where bookings are done for most of allthe other beaches.

The village of Calangute hasall basic facilities like post office, banks, foreign exchange offices, resort companies, all kindof eateries and medical facilities. The number of internet cafes in Calangute might totallyexceed the number in the entire city of Panaji.

Huge showrooms filled with exquisite handicrafts from Kashmir, Tibet, Indonesia, Rajasthanand other exotic places, line up the main road running towards Anjuna. But the beach as suchis not the best of all. There are no swaying palms nor are there any traditional boats lying thereto add variety. The waves are bigger and heavier here due to the rapid drop.

The road from the town to the beach is packed with shops selling a wide range of items, namely souvenirs, metal crafts, leather items, clothes and jewelry, which are not only fromGoa, but from other parts of the country also.

Relax At Vagator Beach

Vagator Beach has dramatic red cliffs looking down on the shore and two fresh water springswithin a stone's throw of the sea. But Vagator has little by way of seaside accommodation.

Vagator Beach is split into two main beaches by a seaside headland which holds the car parkand lots of stalls selling trinkets, clothes, soft drinks and snacks. As you face the sea, on yourright is North Vagator Beach (Big Vagator)and on your left Ozran Beach, more commonlyknown as Little Vagator Beach.

Vagator is a little more laid back, though still pretty much steeped in the rave culture. Thetourist traffic is predominantly Western backpackers, however it has also become popularwith Indian tourists, who particularly come to watch the sunset from the rocks. The sunsetthrough rocks is breath taking from Vagator Beach

1 hr Hop onto the spirit of the carnival at the Anjuna Beach Flea Market, held every Wednesday. From expats to Indian tourists to locals, you'll find the place abuzz with a lot of activity, evenlate into the night. The market began in the 1960s, when hippies headed to Anjuna for sometrance music and parties. Originally, the market was like a garage sale, where hippies wouldsell second-hand stuff in a bid to earn some extra bucks.

Evolved over the years, the market now sells everything from second-hand motorbikes andcell phones to unique hand-made lamps and handicrafts. Pull up your socks and get ready tohunt through the market for some great souvenirs, fashionable clothes and lovely artifacts. Theplace has been more commercialised now and one could get products from all over India:colourful saris, blingy bags and bedsheets from Rajasthan, spices from Kerala, sculpturesand jewellery from Tibetan and Kashmiri traders. If hunger strikes, head to one of the stallshere for an eclectic choice of food, and finish off with a trance music party at the beach.
