A NEW SEASON STARTS
The 1970-71 season, just closing, saw successful productions of"ANYTHING GOES", "THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN", andnow our third production, "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF". It has been avery satisfactory and successful year for the West Valley Light OperaAssociation.
For the forthcoming season of 1971-1972 your Board of Directorshas tentatively planned the following:
THE MUSIC MAN, with music and lyrics by Meredith Willson: to beproduced during November and December 1971.THE PAJAMA GAME, with music and lyrics by Richard Adler andJerry Ross: to play during February and March 1972
THE MERRY WIDOW, with music by Franz Lehar: to be producedduring June and July 1972.
While the above are planned, theatrical strategy may, of course, dictate a diversion; an example is provided by the substitution foranother musical by "Fiddler" when we found the latter would beavailable to us,

THE AUXILIARYThe Auxiliary of the West Valley Light Opera Association has
operated for the past four years, at which time it succeeded anorganization known simply as "The Group."
Perhaps the greatest challenge to the Auxiliary lies in preparing thetheatre lobby and hosting the Champagne Gala for Members' Night, usually opening night of each production; less glamorous, but stillnecessary, is the operation of the refreshments concession in the lobbyduring the performances, for this is a principal means of raising moneyfor the Auxiliary. More attractive to many is the opportunity to helpback stage with costuming, handling properties, designing and paintingsets and drops, making up the cast members, etc. Other forms ofactivities include ushering, box office work, publicity, telephoning, obtaining program advertising, poster distribution, ticket and member-ship selling, and in many other ways, something rewarding for all.
Please telephone Mrs. Flo Colvan at 867 -9460 or the office at356-6410 for information regarding membership.
