Judges 6:11-21

JUGES 6:11-21

11 Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under theterebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joashthe Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in thewinepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites.

12 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said tohim, "The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!"

13 Gideon said to Him, "O my lord, if the LORD is with us, whythen has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracleswhich our fathers told us about, saying, 'Did not the LORD bringus up from Egypt?' But now the LORD has forsaken us anddelivered us into the hands of the Midianites."

JUGES 6: 11-21

14 Then the LORD turned to him and said, "Go in this might ofyours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of theMidianites. Have I not sent you?"

15 So he said to Him, "O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeedmy clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in myfather's house."

16 And the LORD said to him, "Surely I will be with you, andyou shall defeat the Midianites as one man."

17 Then he said to Him, "If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me.

18 "Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You and bring out my offering and set it before You." And He said, "I will wait until you come back."

JUGES 6:11-21

19 So Gideon went in and prepared a young goat, andunleavened bread from an ephah of flour. The meat he put in abasket, and he put the broth in a pot; and he brought them outto Him under the terebinth tree and presented them.

20 The Angel of God said to him, "Take the meat and theunleavened bread and lay them on this rock, and pour out thebroth." And he did so.

21 Then the Angel of the LORD put out the end of the staff thatwas in His hand, and touched the meat and the unleavenedbread; and fire rose out of the rock and consumed the meatand the unleavened bread. And the Angel of the LORDdeparted out of his sight.

THE LORD COMES TO GIDEON

GIDEON WAS DOING SOMETHING TO RESIST THE ENEMY.

HE DID NOT WANT THE ENEMY TO HAVE HIS FULL WAY

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversarythe devil walks about like a roaring lion,seeking whom he may devour.

9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowingthat the same sufferings are experienced byyour brotherhood in the world.

THE VISITATION OF GOD

GOD VISITS HARD WORKING PEOPLE. THOSE WHO ARE DOING SOMETHING.

GIDEON’S UNBELIEF

GIDEON QUESTIONED THE PRESENCE OF GOD IN THEIR LIFE

13 Gideon said to Him, "O my lord, if the LORD is withus, why then has all this happened to us? And whereare all His miracles which our fathers told us about,saying, 'Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?' Butnow the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us intothe hands of the Midianites."

GOD IS WITH YOU

THE PRESENCE OF GOD DOES NOT DEPEND ON WHAT YOU SEE OR WHAT

YOU GO THROUGH.

GOD IS ALWAYS WITH YOU

Matthew 28:20 "teaching them to observe all thingsthat I have commanded you; and lo, I am with youalways, even to the end of the age." Amen

THE ANGEL GAVE NO RESPONSE

THE ANGEL DID NOT TRY TO CONVINCE HIM BECAUSE BELIEVING GOD’S

PRESENCE IN OUR LIVES IS A MATTER OF FAITH.

IT IS MAN’S RESPONSIBILITY TO BELIEVE GOD’PRESENCE IN HIS LIFE

GOD GAVE A MISSION

GOD OVERLOOKED HIS QUESTIONS AND GAVE HIM A MISSION

GOD SEES SOMETHING

GOD SAW SOMETHING IN GIDEON AND HE WANTED HIM TO USE THAT.

GIDEON SAW HIS INCAPACITIES, HIS LIMITATIONS

HE DID NOT SEE THE STRENGHT THAT HE HAD BUT THE WEAKNESSES

15 So he said to Him, "O my Lord, how can I saveIsrael? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh,and I am the least in my father's house."

THE PERSPECTIVE OF GOD

GOD KNOWS YOUR WEAKNESSES BUT HE FOCUSES ON YOUR STRENGTH.

THE PRESENCE OF GOD SHALL GO WITH YOU

16 And the LORD said to him, "Surely I will be withyou, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man."

BEWARE OF NEGATIVE CONFESSIONS

THOSE WHO SAY THEY HAVE NOTHING WILL BE STRIPPED OF ALL OTHER THINGS THEY HAVE.
