  • Go the Distance is a virtual fundraising challenge from Monday 12th October - Sunday 18th October that will test your endurance and see how far you can go over 7 days.

    You can enter as an individual or join the team challenge where you can have up to 8 participants to reach your chosen goal.

    We know that going the distance will mean something different to everyone so we want you to feel challenged and motivated to set and smash a distance to fund freedom.

    To help you along the way we have set out three levels of challenge. It’s up to you to pick the one which you feel challenges you!

    Tailor your challenge to suit you and/or your team mates. Pick a challenge level that you can work together individually or as a group.

    If you choose to do it as a group, you don’t all have to choose to run outdoors. Just work towards the total distance together and choose a method that suits you personally.

    Remember that the distances can be completed over the course of the 7 days in Anti-Slavery Week from 7am Monday 12th October til 7pm Sunday 18th October.

    As well as trying to reach your goal, you’ll also be able to gain badges for different achievements.

    If you get all of the badges, you’ll go into the hall of fame and into a prize draw!

    • Aint No Mountain High Enough – Reach 100ft elevation gain during one run

    • Early Bird – Log a run between 4am and 7am

    • Night Owl – Log a run between 8pm and 11pm

    • Social Butterfly – Post a picture on your social media during every run tagging #hopechallenge #gothedistance

    • Show me the Money – Raise over £250

    • Follow the Leader – Get 3 people who aren’t in your team join you on a run, send us a selfie!

    • Usain Bolt – Run a 5km in under 25 minutes

    • Mo Farah – Run a half marathon (21km) in one run

    • Sign up to Strava - you’ll need to send us each run you complete throughout the challenge (Guide to Strava)

    How many can we have in a team?Teams can be up to 8 people in total.

    How much money do I need to raise?As much as you can! We’ll ask you to set yourself/your team a target and it’s up to you to raise it! You can decide if you’d like to reach your fundraising as a team or as individuals and we’ll be here to support you throughout with encouragement and ideas!

    How will you know how far I’ve run?

    You can use any tracking app but we would recommend Strava as you can also link it to your fundraising page.

    Simply send us a screenshot of your run or walk to [email protected] and we can updateyour progress.

    FAQs

    What is the best way for my friends and family to send sponsorship money in?

    The easiest way to fundraise is by setting up a JustGiving Page. Once you register for the challenge you will be sent a guide on how to do this.

    I already use a running app that isn’t Strava, can I use that to log my runs?

    Of course! As long as it shows your distance then screenshot and send in as normal.

    *JustGiving now let you sync your Strava with your fundraising page. Supporters sharing their fitness activities on JustGiving raise 40%more on average.
