GO! Great Outdoors Canoe / Kayak the Hidden River Trail --- Moraine State Park Saturday, June 13

Well meet at the parking lot at Christ Church at Grove Farm.

Well go to Moraines Crescent Bay Canoe/Kayak Rental to rent your choice of canoe or kayak. Then, well go to McDanel Boat Launch to put in and paddle to the Hidden River Canoe Trail across the lake.

Well plan to spend 2 hours or so paddling and exploring the trail and lake (canoe/kayak rental is by the hour). Then, well return our canoes/kayaks and have a pot luck picnic lunch and hang out to enjoy Moraines views, trails, etc..

Reserve a spot by June 1 by sending reservation to Janette Knittel (1612 Pine Hollow Road, McKees Rocks, PA 15136 or jknittel@alumni.cmu.edu) or by giving it to me or Elizabeth Barry at Church.

If youve never canoed or kayaked, someone will instruct you on how to do it. This is a good trip even for first time paddlers.not too challenging that youll be overwhelmed; challenging enough and beautiful enough to make you want to challenge yourself!

Other details: Life vest is required by the park and is included with your rental. You can choose to rent a two-seater or a single-seater canoe or kayak. Well rent directly from the parks official rental company. Be prepared to pay them for your rental. You can bring your own canoe or kayak if you have one. Bring your own small cooler bag with drinks if you want.

Meet at Christ Church at Grove Farm parking lot at 7.30am.

Return by mid to late afternoon. Its up to the drivers!

Costs:

Canoe/kaya rental is by the hour. Fees range from $15/hour to $20/hour per canoe/kayak (2 people can share a canoe or kayak, if you want)

Bring picnic food to share. Remember that itll be in the car or pavilion while we paddle so pack it in a cooler with ice.

(Anyone have a grill that we could use for hot dogs?!)

Well carpool from the church parking lotremember to pass the hat for your driver for gas money.

ospreys, cool rock formations. Access to the trail is across some open water on the lake.
