Shuttle™ is bringing ultra low temperature storage to places never before imagined. Places conventional cascade freezers can’t go or won’t work. Remote locations where stable power and dry ice are far away. Places where people need medicine, where research gets done, where science demands certainty.

The Shuttle™ is ultra portable. It doesn’t use dry ice. It’s lightweight, but rugged.

It’s whisper quiet. It doesn’t use refrigeration compressors, thermoelectric peltier or LN2. It uses something different, better, smarter, generating uniform interior temperature ±0.75°C top to bottom.

The Shuttle™ uses environmentally friendly, green-energy technology. Power consumption at its most efficient temperature of -86°C is 150 watts, the same as operating a conventional light bulb.

Spacious 0.9 cu.ft. (25 liter) interior volume accommodates a variety of inventory options.

Applications:

The Shuttle™ weighs less than 40 lbs / 18 kg. It’s easy to pick up and move. It’s ideal for personal desktop use, benchtop or mobile applications on land, sea or in the air.

Because it doesn’t use dry ice or LN2, there is no need for replenishment, ever. It doesn’t generate potentially hazardous CO2 vapors. You don’t need a HAZMAT certification to transport.

Clinical trial administrators can manage cold chain custody from door to door to assure the integrity of pharmaceuticals and minimize loss or liability.

It operates on conventional AC, 60 Hz, or 50 Hz, and low-voltage DC power (see Accessories for military DC/Mobile Power Supply).

In your facility you can put the Shuttle™ on a cart and roll it from one location to another. You can keep it running on an optional UPS (uninterruptable power supply) while you do.

MaintenanceThe Shuttle™ requires little maintenance.

A slide-out air filter is easy to clean, no tools needed. Slide out the filter, vacuum or use canned air, and slide it back into position. That's all.

Stirling Ultracold Shuttle™ Model ULT:25 Easy-to-use touchpad controls have positive tactile feedback. The press and hold On/Off button secures the power mode and protects the setpoint. Transition from AC to DC power is as easy as changing the power cord.

Temperature Display: Digital display indicates interior temperature °C. Error codes are displayed if detected.

Interior Sub-Lid: High-density foam sub-lid rests on interior molded ridge of spacious 0.9 cu.ft. (25 liter) interior.

Power Button: Press and hold to turn ON or OFF.

Power Indicator Light: Glows red when ON.

Temperature Set Indicator Light: Glows when system is in setpoint change mode. Turns OFF automatically when change mode times out.

Temperature Preset Buttons: Factory set at (1) -20°C; (2) -40°C; (3) -86°C default at startup.

Temperature Set Button: Press and hold to activate setpoint change.

System Lock Indicator: Confirms system setpoints are locked. Prevents errors or unauthorized adjustment. Glows green when unlocked.

Temperature Control Buttons: Raise and lower temperature setpoint at 1°C intervals when in change mode only.

Error Indicator: Glows red and activates audible beeping alarm if system error is detected. Error code is displayed in window; refer to operating manual for code definition .

Over/Under-Temperature Alarm: Activates visual and audible beep warning if temperature exceeds setpoint. Alarm silences automatically when setpoint is restored.

The Free-Piston Stirling EngineThe Shuttle™ operates without noisy refrigeration compressors or costly cascade systems associated with ultra low temperature storage.

Shuttle™ is an elegantly simple application that combines the Humm™ free-piston Stirling technology with a thermosiphon that contains no moving parts, all integrated into a rugged, lightweight cabinet with weatherproof electronic controls.

Humm™ is a proven, dependable, maintenance-free heat transfer process that is widely used in aerospace, energy and military applications for cooling and power generation.

Thermosiphon Energy Transfer

The thermosiphon is completely sealed with no moving parts, embedded within a composite non-CFC urethane foam and vacuum-insulated panel cabinet wall. All cooling is accomplished by a simple condensation and evaporation process dependent on thethermodynamic properties as the cooling medium changes phase from liquid to a gas and back again at different temperatures.

The Humm™ free-piston Stirling engine contains two moving parts that float on helium gas bearings to eliminate contact wear. Freezing is performed by continuous evaporation and condensation of the cooling medium permanently sealed within the thermosiphon where ultra low temperature is constant from top to bottom.

Cooling System Humm™ free-piston Stirling engine. Non-contact parts on helium gas bearings eliminate wear. Non-cycling, constant frequency linear motor creates straight line temperature control by eliminat-ing on/off cycling. The thermosiphon evaporator operates on a microcharge cooling medium of 0.3 oz to 0.6 oz (9 to 18 grams) depending on medium used.

Cascade Refrigeration System

None. The system contains no compressors or lubricating oils.

Humm™ technology is not refrigerant specific. It can use any of a variety of off-the-shelf cooling fluids such as DuPont™ SUVA®95, hydrocarbons such as ethane (widely used in Europe) or other refrigerants commonly used in global markets for household refrigerators and consumer goods.

There is no on/off cycling. Component wear and energy spikes common to start/stop cycling is virtually eliminated, creating and maintaining a steady-state temperature at the desired setpoint without a sawtooth curve common to conventional refrigeration systems.

The low-voltage linear driver generates minimal heat. Discharge temperature to the room is very low with minimal impact to the facility HVAC system or car air conditioner.

Mobile Power DC Cord One 12V, DC power cord shipped standard with each Shuttle™. For convenience order additional power cords to keep in multiple vehicles. Vehicle electrical service must have 20 amp fuse. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for location and amperage rating for available DC power outlets.

Military DC/Mobile Power Supply

For use with 24V military standard power supply. Converts 24V to match Shuttle™ internal electrical system.

Sub-Lid One included with each Shuttle™. Additional sub-lids are available for replacement or rotation. Closed-cell rigid foam sub-lid minimizes moisture buildup around the gasket; optimizes internal temperature uniformity.

Transfer Cart Selected models include a multiple outlet strip for integrating the freezer and uninterruptable power supply (UPS).
