Course # 1
Course Description: This course is an introductory course where the student will develop the
knowledge and skill thru theory and lab practice in the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
process. Welding will be done in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions, on fillet
and groove welds using single pass, and multiple pass welds. Hands-on labs are provided to give
the student the opportunity to become proficient at welding on a variety of metals. Safety will be
emphasized throughout the class and will be accordance with industry standards for
manufacturing.

Course Description: This course is developed to provide the experienced or skilled welder the
ability to test in accordance with the American Welding Society’s plate and testing procedures
and enrich the student’s marketability in the workplace using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
process. The student will learn the key variables that affect the quality of welding in the vertical
and overhead positions. The student will accurately demonstrate the knowledge and skills thru
theory and lab practices. Hands- on labs are provided to give the student the opportunity to
become proficient at plate testing. Welding will be done on groove welds in the vertical and
overhead position using multiple pass welds. Safety will be enforced throughout the class and
will be in accordance within industry standards for manufacturing.
