Together, Jamie and Nigel have created a unique offering that concentrates on sourcing the best food from great producers. Here at Fabulous Feasts, we strive to use British growers and farmers wherever possible, but if taking a swim off our shores means getting the best ingredients, then that's what we'll do. We then add Jamie's creative twist and flair to dishes and deliver them through an established, experienced team to the event catering industry. Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts are partnering with Woods’ Sliver Fleet to develop their events business (corporate and private) and launch a new retail restaurant business. Woods Silver Fleet Woods River Cruises is a family run business, proud to have been operating on the River Thames for the past 60 years. Their principal belief is in the highest standards of interiors, dining and service, alongside a fleet of greatly acclaimed boats, makes for the amazing bespoke events and experiences that are created for each individual client. The Job The main purpose of this job is to ensure that our business with Woods Silver Fleet operates to the highest standards with a customer focus whilst maintaining the Jamie Oliver reputation and ethos and delivering on its financial objectives and budget. You’ll be responsible for delivering amazing customer service through excellent training, development and communication whilst delivering on budgets through excellent planning and growth in average spend and, in turn, profit. A key aspect is also to launch the new retail concept business. We expect the General Manager to act as role model for staff and ambassador for this exciting new project, with a positive attitude, real drive and excellent standards at all times. The Person You’ll need to have proven experience of running a busy, high volume, high turnover restaurant and have some experience in delivering a range of private and corporate events, within a high profile London location. You’ll also need to understand the importance of meeting targets and instinctively hit the balance between the demands of the business and consistently exceeding guests’ expectations. You’ll have excellent knowledge of restaurant and event operations, health and safety regulations, employment law and service standards as well as being comfortable working with multiple client interests (Woods Silver Fleet and the paying customer). Experience of opening a restaurant would be beneficial.

In addition to all that, you’ll have proven your ability to lead, motivate and inspire your team to be passionate and loyal while managing consistently and fairly. It goes without saying that you need to be passionate about food and service, but you’ll also be keen to learn and try new ideas that fit the Jamie ethos and help the business to grow. In order to do all this you need to be a proactive, confident, calm problem-solver, an excellent communicator and be passionate about the catering industry. Key Responsibilities Delivery of Sales & Profit You’ll be fully responsible for the financial health, growth and success of the operation. This will involve the full management of costs across the operation, maximising sales to exceed agreed targets, ensuring financial and budgetary controls are in place and work with Woods’ Silver Fleet and the Jamie Oliver Marketing team to develop pro-active business plans. People Development You’ll be responsible for the full management of your people with support from Jamie’s People & Development team. Your role will be to ensure that staffing levels are well planned, that recruitment standards are excellent, and that new staff are quickly very aware of the culture of the business and well trained. You’ll also be fully responsible for clear performance management across the business, ensuring that everyone feels enabled, motivated and in love with their job. Communication You’ll be the key contact within the business with Woods’ Silver Fleet and manage that relationship with the utmost care and attention. You’ll also build a close relationship with the Jamie Oliver team to ensure the business is operating to the correct standards and pass these on to the whole team at every opportunity. A key part of the role is to be approachable for your whole team, to be knowledgeable about the whole business and to ensure that everyone has the information they need to do a great job. Importantly, you’ll create an environment where people share ideas and work together to build the success of the business, no matter what level they work at. Legal Obligations You’ll be ultimately responsible for ensuring that the operations is at least complying with (if not exceeding) all relevant legal obligations, such as fire, health and safety, food hygiene, licensing, environmental health and employment legislation as well as ensuring that the correct training is carried out so that your whole team can meet the required standards. Management Duties You’ll inspire your team to maintain excellent customer service and operating standards at all times, ensuring that brilliant briefings are a matter of course and that everyone is really well informed about each event. You’ll build solid relationships with the Marine Fleet Manager and Woods’ Silver Fleet Head of Sales and Marketing. On the rare occasion that things don’t meet expectations you’ll ensure that issues are dealt with swiftly in such a way that the resolution of a bad impression creates return business. You’ll also make sure that really serious issues are brought to the attention of Woods’ Silver Fleet Managing Director. You’ll also be responsible for leading by example, ensuring that your team are organised, aware of the expectations that they need to exceed and that they’re focussed on providing an amazing service.
