Oil prices con nued to rise in September, ending the month just above $108 a barrel for crude. Prices declined through October ending the month at $96.38, the lowest since June.

The Central Bank met late September and again late October to determine the direc on of the US Monetary Policy. The main focus was on the $85 billion/month asset purchasing program and when the tapering will begin.

Both mee ngs concluded with the same result. The Federal Reserve will prolong the s mulus with no cuts expected before April 2014 at the earliest. Investors had previous thought the tapering would begin late 2013.

The Fed pointed to fi scal policy; government spending cuts, the shut down and the debt ceiling debate as restraining economic growth. With this news, oil prices seem to be heading into more bearish territory.

Did you know?On the fi rst day of opera on of the fi rst drive-up service sta on in 1913, 30 gallons of gasoline were sold for 27 cents/gallon.
