MESTA

• Mesta, society composed of all the sheep raisers of Castile recognized by Alfonso X (the Wise) in 1273. Its head had both administrative and legal powers.

CORTES -THE COURTS

• Assemblies that were formed by representatives of the three estates.

• Their function was to aprove the raise of new taxes and ask for financial support

REPOPULATION-RESETTLEMENT

• The aim of the repopulation was to increase the number of people living in the new occupied territories, which had a very small number of inhabitants.

• There were different methods depending on the territory:– By the Town Council– By military orders– By distribution.

• A Set of laws, given by the King, that stated the duties and privileges of a territory.
