ABOUT THE PROJECT

Over the next 10 sessions, you will be researching,

designing and creating your very own juice box.

PROJECT TASK

RESOURCES

A range of resources will be needed and highlighted for

each session

To design and make a juice box using a key word.

NOTES

You will need parental supportwhen cutting, creating and decorating your juice box.

Session 1

Juice box theme and mood boardsResources

1) Find images from the internet to inspire you, link them with your key word.

Find images of different juice boxes

2) Using magazines, coloured papers and materials create a real mood-board.

Find loots of images linking to your them.

Cut them out and stick them on an A4piece of paper to create your 2nd mood-board

Product Analysis and product disassembly

Resources

• Laptop or ipad

• PowerPoint, Keynote orgoogle slides.

• A juice carton / box


Product AnalysisUsing a juice carton you can buy from a store your task is to analyses its packaging.

• Aesthetics (what it looks like)

• Customer (who will buy it?)

• Cost (price)

• Environment (can you recycle it)

• Size (how big is it?)

• Safety (is it dangerous, are there any safety instructions, is it safe for vegans/ vegetarians?)

• Function (what does the packaging do?)

• Materials (what is it made from)

Product disassembly• Cut open your juice box carefully.

• Clean it and stick it onto an A3 sheet of paper

• Label each part of the graphics, explaining what it is and what it shows.

Net theory

• What is a net?

Task: Create a mini net using this rectangle

• Take a photo and put it into your work.

• Explain what you have done and we did this test/ practice.


Specification

Write a design specification for what you are going to make using ACCESS FMT

• Aesthetics (what will it look like, shape, colour and theme)

• Customer (who will buy it, why?)

• Cost (price to buy it)

• Environment (can you recycle it? How will the customer know?)

• Size (Measurements)

• Safety (how will you make it safe for the customer?)

• Function (what does it have to do?)

• Materials (what is it made from, why?)

• Testing (how will you make sure your juice box works? Feedback)

The specification is all about YOUR juice box.

Create• Create your final juice box following your final design,

including the measurements

• Use card, a ruler, pencil, glue and scissors to make the net.

• Your final juice box graphics must be hand drawn.

• Use any other materials to add features linking to yourtheme
