• Global warming is exacerbating political instability as tensions brought on by food insecurity rise. With research suggesting the issue can only get worse we examine the risks around the world.

• Global food crisis will worsen as heatwaves damage crops, research finds

• Global warming induced heat waves, drought, and flooding is a global food emergency for us all todayThe top food productivity regions of the temperate Northern hemisphere are now climate change vulnerable.

• Changes in climate are already affecting the sustainability of agricultural systems and disrupting production Unless the emissions of GHGs are curbed .. changes in temperature, precipitation, and other climate variables will undoubtedly affect agriculture around the world

• Most food is produced in the temperate Northern hemisphere, with the US by far the largest total and surplus food producer. Russia and Australia produce food surpluses.

S. America and Europe have very small food surpluses.

Any compromise to US and Russian food production would result in rising world food prices and if sustained would be disastrous to world food security.
