United Kingdom25 June 2020: Police are asking truck drivers
to be alert when leaving vehicles unoccupied
following a number of reports of Fuel theft.
Over the past two weeks, three reports have
been received of Fuel being siphoned from HGVs, two of
which were parked up in laybys overnight. Two incidents were
reported in the Cotswolds and another incident was reported in
Stonehouse.

United Arab Emirates25 June 2020: A storekeeper and a crane
operator, who were convicted of stealing
cartons of toilet tissues worth Dh42,000 from
a warehouse of an Abu Dhabi company, have
been jailed for six months. They loaded cartons of toilet tissues
on a truck and took them away without the knowledge of the
company management. In addition, no sales invoice for the
items was issued by the cashier or accounts office.

The Netherlands24 June 2020: A thief’s face was visible on recently
released surveillance images relating to the 16
May theft of a large batch of smartwatches from a
warehouse of a transport company at Schiphol-East.
To enter the site, the man used a supposedly false ID.

South Africa23 June 2020: Cash-in-Transit robberies in
KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State have
increased according to the South African Banking
Risk Information Centre (Sabric) annual crime
statistics for 2019. Sabric speaks on behalf of the banking
industry.

23 June 2020: A group of 50 Cash-in-Transit
employees who have tested positive for COVID-19
are blaming their company for being responsible
for their infection. They claim management has
been sitting on information for four weeks that one of their
colleagues (who recently died) was infected with the coronavirus.

22 June 2020: The Hawks have launched a
manhunt for the last known suspect believed to be
involved in a Cash-in-Transit heist in Mahikeng in
which two police officers were killed. According to
the Hawks, ten people have been accounted for in the case so
far.

22 June 2020: A Cash-in-Transit security guard
was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the
head in Boksburg. The guard came face-to-face
with the assailants, as he was loading money into
a Cash-in-Transit vehicle stationed outside Birchgate Spar in
Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg. He was shot at close
range. “The suspects fled the scene,” Muridili said. No arrests
have been made.

Belgium23 June 2020: A looted trailer full of packages
discovered near Liège was indeed stolen. The
Belgian police are investigating the case. A
spokesman says “The trailer was on its way to
Frankfurt, possibly containing packages intended for
Germany and the Netherlands.”

India28 June 2020: Over 4,000 tonnes of cargo
imported from China and Hong Kong have been
allegedly held back by the office of the Bangalore
Customs at Kempegowda International Airport
(KIA) and the Inland Container Depot in Whitefield in the last
five days. Traders claim it is an illegal move as there is no
government order in this regard.
21 June 2020: Two men have been arrested in
connection with the theft of a truck from a petrol
station in Mysore. The police have apprehended the
two accused and they confessed to having stolen the
truck.

Brazil25 June 2020: An attempted robbery
happened in the city of Teresina. Security
guards were filling up an ATM at a pharmacy
in the Santa Bárbara neighborhood when the
assailants appeared. There was an exchange of gunfire, but the
guards acted quickly and managed to preserve the money; no
one was injured.
23 June 2020: The DIG (Police Station
of General Investigations) of Americana
dismantled part of a gang that stole trucks in
the region to sell in Paraguay. The two arrested
men used an app that ordered freight to carry out thefts. The
criminals would rent two farms to keep truckers as captives,
usually for two or three days, until the stolen truck crossed the
state line.

22 June 2020: A group of about thirty men, who
used rifles and several stolen vehicles, broke into
a distribution center in Duque de Caxias. One
watchman died, two were injured. The Electronics
load, estimated at R $ 15 million, was taken in two trucks,
one of which was recovered. The other was taken to favelas
in Parque União and Nova Holanda. A criminal was shot in the
police chase.

17 June 2020: The Military Police arrested
six men involved in an attempted theft of a
vehicle with a load of clothes, which took place
in Jardim Boa Vista, in the city of Barueri.
A group of criminals were transshipping 828 boxes of clothes
(valued at more than R $ 1.3 million) to a shed when they were
caught by the police, who arrived at the site via the information
of the truck tracker.

Mexico24 June 2020: A man and woman were arrested
in the middle of a drug sale in Iztapalapa, Mexico
City. Upon further investigation, authorities detected
that the pair was involved in at least three cargo
theft incidents in 2019, while the vehicle they were
travelling in was also linked to several cargo theft incidents.

23 June 2020: Two cargo thieves were injured while
being chased by police in Esperanza, Puebla. The
high-speed chase caused the driver to lose control
of the cargo vehicle which caused him to collide with
a house. Both men were hospitalized for trauma to
their lower extremities.

20 June 2020: Three men were arrested while
unloading beer from a stolen cargo vehicle in Las
Choapas, Veracruz. The arrest was made while
authorities carried out an operation in response to
reports of a cargo theft group operating in the area. The criminal
group reportedly targets up to three cargo units a week, near
the state limits with Tabasco.

U.S. & Canada24 June 2020: Cargo theft firm SensiGuard® has
noted an increase in the last week in the rate of
Pilferage cargo thefts in a small area of southeast
Memphis, Tennessee.

inspected a Canadian truck at the Peace Bridge
near Buffalo, New York, they found 3,100 pounds
of marijuana hidden in a shipment of peat moss.
The $5 million haul, while unusually large, is part of a surge in
drug seizures at the Canada-U.S. border.

Protection (CBP) officers assigned to the Port of
Birmingham discovered nearly 500 unregistered
non-contact and infrared thermometers
originating in Malaysia and China. If genuine, the thermometers
would have a combined MSRP of $21,400.
