Action 1: Energy Review
• The same as original review
• We ask you to identify areas for improvement
– Reduce Energy consumption further if possible
– Food and energy – eat low carbon?
– Energy Star label – energy efficiency
– Carbon Calculator – how much carbon does your school emit?
– Investigate Climate Change
– Investigate where your energy comes from
Action 2:Global Awareness Survey
• Hands-up survey – 14 questions with representative sample of school only (4th, 5th and 6th class in primary or 15% of school population in secondary)
• Gauge existing awareness levels of different issues related to Global Citizenship.
• Pick one question/topic where the students showed lack of awareness and focus on improving
• Re-do survey at the end of the school year as part of the monitoring and evaluation step
• Repeated in second year work and inputted into the renewal application form.

• How do other people across the globe heat their houses? What kind of fuel do they use to cook their food with?
• Research the Global Goals that apply to energy.

SEAI Workshops
• Workshops are free, open to all schools and are allocated on a first come first served basis.
• Booking forms and information can be downloaded from the Green-Schools website.
• Workshops for:
- Junior Primary
- Senior Primary
- 1st, 2nd and Transition Year Secondary classes.
• Also available are CPD Energy workshops for
Primary School Teachers that qualify for
‘Croke Park hours’ and are particularly relevant
for schools applying for their Green Flag for Energy.
