San Jose Police Department
San Jose Police Department CIO Cecil Lawson
“With each generation of technology, the department spends time to solve any technology issues that occurred with the current technology. As computer technology gets older, most components with moving parts tend to fail. This includes disk drives, keyboards, and cooling fans. Our goal is to remove any moving parts if possible so we can avoid down-time that would result in loss of productivity, if possible.”

By using Getac B300, the San Jose Police Department efficiently avoids equipment down-time,
reduces maintenance cost and fully escalates productivity during IT system transit. In addition,
Getac leading five-year warranty saves the department thousands of dollars over the life of the
technology.

Chattanooga Police Department “Through our onsite testing and vendor
research we came to the decision to go
with Getac, and we are very pleased
with that decision.” “Since we began
using the Getac B300 and P470, we
have been able to triple the amount of
information available to the officers in the field.”

Chattanooga PD chose the Getac B300 and Getac P470 to meet the mobile computing needs of
its police officers. Before installing the Getac computers, field officers had to rely on slow, in-car
connections. Using the new Getac rugged notebooks and a 3G data service, officer’s are able to
access information up to 20-times faster than their previous solution. This instant access to data is
vital to an officer’s safety and the increase in speed and bandwidth has allowed the department to
deploy additional applications increasing the productivity of the officers.

When Glendale Police Department
decided to upgrade its mobile
computing hardware, it chose the
Getac M-Series. The larger screens
and lower cost of the rugged laptop
vs. fixed-mount systems combined
with the ability for an officer to use
the laptop for report writing made the
rugged laptop the only choice. Unlike
the aging fixed-mount models they
were replacing, the Getac M-Series
units offered a docking station option
that made it fast and easy to remove
the unit from the vehicle.

Halliburton uses Getac A790 and M230 notebooks for on-site surveying. They record and
analyze data such as drill-hole inclination, azimuth, depth, and the drill bit tool face condition,
and interface with other equipment for data sharing. These tasks required very particular
physical equipment attributes, and compatible software for their very niche applications. Getac
worked closely with Halliburton to ensure that they met Halliburton’s exact requirements.
Getac’s rugged notebooks were chosen to work in on-site field workshops adjacent to the oil
rigs, where a consumer notebook just wouldn’t cut the mustard.

The round-trip distance between Ireland and Kazakhstan is nearly 16,000 kilometers. The
adventurous and brave motorist needed stable communication systems to stay connected in
the harsh environments of the Tian Shan mountain range, particularly the challenging 7,010-
meter Khan Tengri, which is absent of roads, water and fuel. The PS236 fully rugged handheld
has an Ingress Protection certification of “67”, meaning the device can withstand dust and
water from harsh environments. The computer's long battery life provided all-day usage so that
the Moto Leopard team seamlessly communicated with each other via 3G, record the trip with
Getac camera software, and find their way with the use of embedded GPS.

Expedition- Nanga Parbat
Marek Klonowski, Experienced Mountaineer and Adventurer
“It’s not easy to please an electrical engineer like me if the quality of the device is poor.
However, I am pleased to have a PS535F with me in this severe environment. Thanks to that satellite map inside the Getac, I knew exactly
where I was on the mountain at all times”

Nanga Parbat is the 9th highest mountain on Earth with a summit elevation of 8,126 meters
(26,660 ft), which has never been climbed in winter. Two experienced mountaineers, Marek and
Tomek, faced the unprecedented challenge of conquering its height in a challenging climate. They
needed a device that can withstand these extreme temperatures while giving them to tools to
survive. The IP65 certified PS535F is operable at low temperatures, waterproof and shock-
resistant, giving the mountaineers the tools they need to scale the mountain. The expedition team
benefits from its outdoor-oriented features like sunlight readability and long battery life (up to 8
hours) to ensure work efficiency and meet their requirements in this challenging environment. The
e-compass and altimeter gave them their exact geographical coordinates. Thanks to the Getac
PS535F, the mountaineers completed their epic submit.

“Modern HD edits like those we produce for Discovery, place extremely high
demands on computer systems and remarkably the M230N performed above
our expectations; producing complex edits with ease. Very impressive. When you set
yourself a challenge against the odds it pays to have a system that can take a few
kicks. Quite simply Getac products kick back.”
