Outgoing Exchange Scholarship (OES)
What is OES? Stands for Outgoing Exchange Scholarship Set up in 2011, originally named as OEG Operated by Global Affairs Office (GAO) A Committee has been set up for
overseeing the implementation of OES, which comprises of academic and administrative representatives from different faculties
Purposes of OES Promoting mobility of students Enriching students’ international exposure
and experience Encouraging students with good academic
standing Subsidizing students with financial needs
Eligibility Participate in a regular credit-bearing
exchange programme at undergraduate/ postgraduate level that is initiated or planned by UM at either University-level or Faculty-level
CANNOT receive double subsidy for exchange at the same time, including subsidy from UM or outside entities
Types of Scholarship Applicants can choose 1 of the 4 types, they are:
Type 1 - Financial Neediness Type 2 - Academic Standing Type 3 - Special Recommended Exchange

Funding Expenses of OES Round-trip air ticket and/or other modes of
transportation between Macao/ Hong Kong/ home city and the host university on arrival and departure dates

Maximum amount of Scholarship (1 Semester) will vary according to destination countries or regions as per the table shown below:

Scholarship Arrangement The full payment will be made before the
departure of successful applicants by presenting the following official original receipts: Offer Letter issued by the Host University Letter of Undertaking
Scholarship Penalty System
• Exceptional case will be considered by the Outgoing Exchange Grant Committee on individual basis

Scholarship Allocation
Applicants pass 1/3 but fail 2/3 of the enrolled credits at the Host University
50% of the amount of Scholarship will be fined
Applicants do not pass 1/3 of the enrolled credits at Host University
Full amount of Scholarship will be fined
Withdrawal before/ during exchange period
Full amount of Scholarship will be fined
Applicants transfer to Host University/ other university and do not return to UM
Full amount of Scholarship will be fined

Applicants do not satisfy the academic requirement as reviewed by the faculty

Act as the hosting office of some of the university-wide exchange and international programmes;
Promote all university-wide exchange and international programmes in UM;
Provide students with source and support to international opportunity;

The University of California, Berkeley
Encourage the exchange of UM master students. At UC Berkeley, the student will obtain the status of
Visiting Student Researcher in the Visiting Student Researcher and Post Doctoral Affairs Program.
The student will audit classes at Berkeley and may take up to four courses per semester at Berkeley.
The student will be responsible for the financial obligations, such as, audit fee, application fee, visa, accommodation, transportation and living expenses, etc.
Students with financial difficulty should raise their concern to the Faculty's General Office
