• Carry rain gear and extra layers.

• Inform someone of where you plan to go boating and when you expect to return.

Owned and operated by The City of Calgary since 1964, the Glenmore Boat Patrol patrols the waters of the Glenmore Reservoir during daylight hours between May 1 and October 31. The Glenmore Boat Patrol provides first response to all boating and shoreline incidents or emergencies on the reservoir.

In addition to patrol and rescue duties, the Glenmore Boat Patrol is responsible for environmental stewardship and maintenance of the reservoir throughout the boating season. The overall goal of the Glenmore Boat Patrol is to ensure the highest level of safety for all recreational user groups on the water.

Boat patrol operators undergo extensive rescue craft and first responder training. Operators utilize several fully-equipped rescue boats to respond to distress calls.

Glenmore Boat Patrol is a member of the Water Safety Partnership – a task force whose goal is to reduce the number of water-related deaths and injuries in Canada.

There are additional call boxes located at various intervals around the reservoir, please refer to map.

In the interests of maintaining a safe and enjoyable boating experience for all users, please respect the following rules:

• Not all boats can alter course quickly or safely; share the reservoir and be aware of other boats on the water in order to avoid collision.

• Yield to the Heritage Park Moyie, vessels under tow and sailboats in light wind.

• Drafting or chasing the Heritage Park Moyie is prohibited.

• During emergencies or rescues, the Glenmore Boat Patrol may need to operate at high speeds, during this time please keep clear.

• Minimize time occupying boat launch areas. These areas are utilized by all users, please be courteous and aware of other’s needs.

• Boats exiting the dock have right-of-way.

• Launching from or beaching on the shorelines is not permitted, except under emergency situations.

Public use of Glenmore ReservoirPublic use of Glenmore Reservoir is permitted between: May 1 - October 31

Daily operational hours are between:Sunrise – Sunset

Use of Glenmore Reservoir outside of the specified times is strictly prohibited.

No swimmingSwimming or wading is not permitted.

No fishing off docksNo fishing off docks or ramps (fishing is permitted in non-motorized boats and along the shore).

No petsNo pets permitted in the water or in boats.

Prohibited crafts The following crafts are not permitted on Glenmore Reservoir:• Motorized crafts• Inflatable crafts• Stand-up paddle boards• Wind surfing boards• Crafts over eight metres (26 ft.)

Life jackets or Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs)• Must be worn at all times.

• Must be approved by Transport Canada or Canadian Coast Guard.

• All inflatable lifejackets or PFDs must adequately sustain the person upon water entry without effort or motion of any kind by the wearer.

Winter Regulations• Contact with the ice is prohibited.

• No animals are permitted on the ice.

• Do not place any object or thing in the water or upon the ice which may pollute or contaminate the water of Glenmore Reservoir.
