President Jan’s Weekly Words ...

What a wonderful display of Lesley’s art work this week by a very talented FAMOUS artist in the Hills area. It was interesting to hear that she insisted on leaving school at 15, (against her father’s wishes) so she could follow her dream to become an artist. It certainly was a courageous and worthwhile deci-sion. Thank you for giving us an insight into your world. Sadly Leslie has now resigned from our club, wanting to pursue other interests in the local commu-nity.

It was a pleasure for our club to present a cheque for $1,000.00 to Jeremy Goff, fund raising manager of Youth Insearch. It is a wonderful program offered to children from 14 – 20 years of age, who are having a very tough time at home and have the opportunity to attend a weekend camp, to boost their moral and help them along the way. It was interesting to hear that the CEO of Youth Insearch, was indeed a participant of the program himself some years ago. What a success story.

Barry Philps spoke about membership and you should have received the sur-vey to complete. I do urge you to include comments and send it back as soon as possible, so an action plan can be commenced. At the moment we have 31 members, with 9 on LOA.

Just a reminder, to send your apologies to Jean Elborn by 12 midday on Mon-days. These numbers are sent to Springfield and we are charged for the num-ber that we book in. If you are a late apology or a no show, we have no alter-native but to ask you to pay for the meal. I do hope that you understand the situation.

Congratulations to the working bee who have been working hard on the fund-raiser for Genes for Jeans. You have almost reached the target of 500 scrunchies . Jennifer will be very proud of you all.
