Dates to Remember Dear parents, Congratulation to our Junior and Senior Dance Groups Last week the groups represented the school in the Synergy Dance Festival in Penrith. Opportunities like these are a tremendous way for students to rehearse with their teachers and to gain the reward of performing. Well done to all concerned. Glee Club – Yrs 4-6 Students –have been successful in auditioning for and achieving a place in the School Spectacular for 2019. This is a great achievement for the students – the School Spec is the biggest school performance of each year, including students from Kindergarten to Year 12 in performances. More about this later on! Paying the School Back! - good news story. Last week, the school assisted a family with some funding – we have been doing this for years - especially when a family is experiencing financial difficulties. However, this time, something very special happened – the parents asked , ‘How can I pay the school back? What can I do to help the school?’ The question left me rather stunned. People often show their gratitude but this person really wanted to assist the school. From this time forward, whenever parents do receive assistance from the school they will be given a letter offering to suggest some ways they might like to assist the school – it could be things like helping with gardens, listening to reading, covering books and so on. Dates to Remember

Dear parents,

Congratulation to our Junior and Senior Dance Groups Last week the groups represented the school in the Synergy Dance Festival in Penrith.

A big thank you to the parent I spoke to about this!

Have a good weekend

Wouldn’t you love to be able to wake up in the morning and stay in your warm snuggly pyjamas? Well on Wednesday June 19 (week 8) you can! Glendenning will be supporting the Asthma Foundation by holding a Pyjama Day. For a gold coin donation you can come to school dressed in your pyjamas, just remember to wear closed in shoes.

The day was founded in 2009 by Montana, a young girl in America living with asthma who spent a lot of time in hospital and her PJs. Dressing for the day in your PJs is fun but it also has a deeper meaning and reminds us of the experience of children around Australia, who often have to spend significant time away from school at home or in hospital because of asthma.

We look forward to sharing a fun day with you on Wednesday June 19 and thank you for your donation.

Positive Feedback – Well done to all students, staff and community members This week we had a visit from Ms Frost, AP for PBL. She came to GPS to work with our PBL team following her visit at the beginning of the year. Ms Frost attended our Monday morning assembly and was amazed at the respect and behaviour displayed by our students. She also commented on how it was noticeable that our school values are accepted and supported by our families, as parents too, displayed respect during the assembly. Ms Frost further commented on how lovely it was that the Glee Club lead the school in singing the National Anthem and School Song, and how our new version of the song really summed up the students, teachers and families representing our school. Something we should all be proud of. ‘CAUGHT YOU BEING’ (CYB) TOKENS At Glendenning our school values are to be a safe, respectful, learner. These values can be transferred into our student’s home lives. We encourage all families to use the language we use here at school when discussing different aspects of home life. The tokens are a great way to reinforce positive behaviour observed at home, as well as working on behaviour expectations at home. If you give a token to your child at home, please have them drop it into the box in the front office.
