Snake Safety Talk at Paterson Public School
Glen William Public School
Term 4 Week 5, Friday 7th November, 2014
Principal’s Update—Week 3 Another busy couple of weeks at Glen William Public School. We participated in Day for Daniel with all of the children attending school wearing something red and raising $43 for the foundation. What a great effort from so few children, well done everyone. The main message from this day is keeping our children safe and helping them to understand what they can do if they feel unsafe. This week Mrs Tippett collected artwork for entry in the Dungog Show and the school has won several prizes. Thankyou very much to Mrs Tippett and Mrs Doorey for setting up and organising our school display to a winning standard. We greatly appreciate the time and effort you have given on our behalf. On Wednesday of this week Grace and Matthew entered in the Maitland Horse Sports and both had a wonderful day. Unfortunately Grace was disadvantaged by the large number of girls who were in her group and she and her horse did not get to show what they could do. Matthew participated in a lot of different events and came away with a lot of ribbons and a very big smile on his face. Congratulations to both students! On the same day, we had a whole school excursion to Paterson Public School to have a talk about Snakes. It was a very interesting and informative talk and we learned a lot about snakes and what we should do if we meet one. Two of our students had a close encounter with a couple of reptiles, Jack being kissed by a Blue-tongue and Beth being hugged by an olive python and they both looked quite comfortable with it! Cont/

Mrs Hanrahan, Mrs Reeves and I were very proud of our students’ behaviour on this excursion and we are extremely appreciative of the parents for transporting the children to Paterson PS. Without your support these learning experiences are not possible. Our Kindergarten visits continue with two lovely new Kindies, Kate and Alyssa, visiting K-2. They are settling in very well and will definitely be ready for big school next year. The whole school is very busy learning some new songs and writing poetry in anticipation of the grandparents visiting us next week. We have planned lots of exciting activities for the granparents to be involved in next Wednesday, so we hope we have lots of visitors.
