Today our school celebrated Remembrance Day with two ceremonies. The bulk of the school were involved in a ceremony at the school and a smaller group of Stage 3 students and the leadership team joined with the community service at the Cenotaph.

It is important for our students to be part of such events as they are very important part of our history.

Last week we reviewed the number of parents who were able to assist with the K/1 water confidence lessons and determined that we would not have sufficient numbers to ensure safety for all concerned.

We are very keen to implement this program but in fact we are not required to do so. I have been asked why the school cannot pay staff to implement such a program and the answer is that we simply do not have the resources in terms of staff or funds.

I urge parents to continue to encourage and educate children in terms of their own safety.

Don’t forget tomorrow is our Safety Focus Day where we will be running workshops on water, farm, road, bike, stranger danger, fire and electrical safety to try and reinforce the need for children to take responsibility for their safety in the community.

Sue Belford Principal School News Swimming School/Learn to Swim *Pool Entry Fee Swim school begins on Monday. Students need to bring their swimmers, hat, sunscreen and water bottles every day. These items need to be carried to the pool in a separate

bag as their school bags stay at school.

A reminder that students need to bring $2.00 or their pool entrance ticket every day to attend.

Macintyre Horse Sports Day On Friday 7th November Jessica Keegan, Roy Duddy, Georgina Burton and Kaitlyn Bennett rode at the Macintyre Horse Sports Day in Inverell. The riders should be proud of their achievements at this event, especially with the heat.

At the end of the day, our school was awarded the Small Team Highest Point Score, Kaitlyn Bennett got Reserve Champion 10 Year Old Girl and Roy Duddy became the 11 Year Boy Champion. Roy and his horse were also awarded the Memorial Trophy Sporting Horse.

It was a great day had by all and I would like to congratulate all the participants. I would also like to thank the dedicated parents that make it possible to attend.

Village we had damper and cordial for recess and then we got in groups. I was in Group 6. We were at the Ray Rob museum. It was full of old photos of Inverell back from 1951 – Inverell’s great flood. After, we went to an old house that had a kitchen separated from the bedrooms. Next we went to Paddy’s Pub. It had one room and one bar room.

Then we went to an old Post Office and looked at an old phone. Then we went to a school and we were sitting in old seats. Mr Gillett took out the cane and the first thing I said was “Oh no! Not the cane!” Mr Gillett said he never got the cane but I don’t believe him!
